Seems like a pretty solid deal if your looking for a cheap bluetooth receiver thats self powered for a older car that does not have bluetooth. I currently have a older car I use for long road trips and it has a bluetooth receiver that gets hooked into a AC outlet. This is way less bulky by the looks of it. Not sure how it works since I have not gotten it yet, but the reviews look decent 3.5 Stars out of 200+ reviews. I know my friend was looking for one too since he currently hooked up a audio cable to his iphone to play music and its frayed and has crappy quality. Hopefully someone else finds this worth wild.

To help people out who care about fakespot reviews this gets a "F" so if you care about that just better to move on. For $7 I am willing to risk it.

Here's the thing - Amazon gives it 3.8 stars, and that's far below the raw data average, so Amazon's rating is pretty spot on. ReviewMeta agrees: (http://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B015OA18UQ)

I'm also sick of people bringing out their pitchforks and torches just because it gets an F on Foolspot...

Fakespot won't be relevant for much longer - the Chinese are doing away with requiring people to put a disclaimer in their review to circumvent Amazon's new rules.

I have three bluetooth receivers like this. Mine are different brands but they're almost identical otherwise. They all do Bluetooth audio pretty well. The microUSB charging ports are pretty fragile, though, so I recommend that you disassemble your receiver and use some epoxy to strengthen its attachment to the circuit board.

Thanks for that advice, since its so cheap I probably wont be doing it but I do have a question for you. Are you getting the 8 hour battery life they are advertising. Just trying to figure out how many times on my car rides I can go without plugging it in. Not a big deal since I have a micro usb cable in my console at all times but still nice to know.

Can you charge and use it at the same time?

I assumed that yes you could but I wanted to be sure, since I was also interested in that answer.

A Top 500 reviewer listed this model as being usable while charging, so yes yes you can. Per a review by Darren Oneill.

What's the difference between this and the $4 ones on Ebay? I'll spend the extra $2 if this one is better in some way.

I can't speak for this particular model but I routinely listen to audio 4-6 hours/day using the BT receiver that I keep here at the office. It's a "urlhasbeenblocked" brand but like I said, they all look very similar so I wouldn't be surprised if the electronics inside are identical. I've never tried to see how long the battery actually lasts. I recharge overnight and while I'm at lunch so I've never encountered a dead battery.

I've only tried that on the receiver that I keep at the office ("urlhasbeenblocked" brand but they all look basically the same). The urlhasbeenblocked can play audio while charging but you have to manually turn the receiver "on" after you plug in the charger. If you're currently playing audio or have it in standby mode when you connect the charger, it'll turn itself off. I wouldn't be surprised if OP's "LDesign" brand behaves the same.

Specs are slightly confusing on the ebay one, how can it be V2.1 and V4.1 +EDR. The one on amazon lists V4.1+EDR. Everything else I am not sure about.

For what it's worth, I just picked this up last week and it has terrible static and volume is very low. I know reviews on Amazon mention this and some others say it works great. Up to you to decide. For me, it's pretty much unusable so even for $1 would've been $1 too much. I'll see about returning it as defective.

How many devices can you connect at once?

Got one of these a few months ago. Using for phone calls was nice, but the audio quality for music was so bad I quit using it. There was no low end bass, even with my car's stereo adjusted to max bass. As with other bluetooth audio devices, a little quality loss is expected, but this was terrible. Do not recommend at any price, unless it is for phone calls only.
