Im not commenting on this to begin a war.. i am not a troll... I will tell you this.. I am a regular officer that is stationed at a county courthouse.. we have a clerk who rode an expensive electric bike to work everyday, she locked it up everyday with her Kryptonite Kryptolock
(I wrote the report, hence the reason i recognized "Kryptonite kryptolock").. She got her bike stolen.. We reviewed the cameras and witnessed an individual walk up to the bike rack and removed the lock as if he had the key in his hand .. Took him no longer than 5 seconds to remove this lock.. He did not spend anytime picking it , handling it, or cutting it... Just removed it... How you might ask ? We have no idea.. we are baffled.. we do know this.. the Kryptolock was no deterrent what so ever... take the advice and or leave it.. Just throwing it out there.. this is a non an embellished story.. I dont blame those that think its bull crap.. I wouldn't have believed it myself had I not seen the video.. Stay safe..

great lock, i picked this up a while ago. attached it to my trek hybrid bike with ease and use it all the time. ever since getting this lock i found myself doing a lot more errands on my bike rather than using the car.

Yea me too. I was on my bike for 30 miles this week. From grocery shopping to the beach and a bunch of things. Keeping in mind this is mot exercise its just purely for keeping the car at bay. 🙂 its great 😁

I don't know. All I know is I bought this exact lock and regret it. Very easy to break into. Check YouTube as well. So easy that even bolt cutters can cut through it.

Alternatively, about $32 from Amazon WD.

Their description says:

Minor cosmetic imperfection on top, front or sides of item (affecting less than 10% surface area). Small cosmetic imperfection on bottom or back of item (affecting less than 10% surface area). Item will come repackaged

It also says:

Due in stock October 26 -- order now to reserve yours
(Prime Eligible also).
So They may be awaiting return of someone's with the described cosmetic issue, which would mean there is only be one available to reserve.
Link [amazon.com]

Yes - I know a little more money and not perfect, but throwing it out there as a plan B for anyone who has their reasons. Do I need to list the potential reasons too?
  • Better service - (free returns for 30 days).
  • Possible tax savings.
  • Sellout potential on plan A.
  • Fast shipping with Prime if you have it.
  • Great sales order tracking.

These are some things putting me on the fence.

Hope it might help someone.

could be a shim, a lucky rake, a bump key/compact snap gun. regardless, are all indications of a poorly designed lock.

I remember a story a few years back about how you could apparently defeat Kryptonite locks with the cap from a Bic pen.

I always wonder where these stolen bikes end up. Like, I don't know that many people that own bikes, is the second hand Craigslist gray market that big? I remember in Pittsburgh there was a story about how the bikes stolen there would be loaded up and sold in NYC, but who is buying all these bikes? Is it all the people who will later get their bike stolen?
