Cookies not working for IE Edge

10,896 5,932 October 23, 2016 at 06:39 AM
It appears that cookies aren't working in IE Edge on Windows 10 again.

Last weekend the cookies were working fine but now each time I return to SD I have to login again. The site also doesn't remember my selection to turn off the blue bar at the top (to check out the new SD view, rather than the "classic" view).

Are any mods listening? When this problem occurred a year it was determined to be a problem with SD cookies and was fixed. Please look into this again.

The mods do not have any control over this. The developers are the ones who handle technical issues.

I'm having the same issue. Can someone please notify the developers?

Hi,

How often does that happen (i.e. every few hours/day you have to log back into SD on Edge)?

I'll try to replicate by logging into SD on Edge and leaving the window open for a period of time before reloading page.

Hi, ygs.
This happens every time I return to SD on my Win 10 computer running IE Edge. All my cookies are forgotten: login, remove the blue bar ("Click here to check out the updated site"), and threads that I've set to ignore.

I remember when this happened a year or two ago I was asked to send cookie information via pm to a SD developer. Eventually it got fixed.

Hi sduff,

Thanks for the reply.

Does this happen to any other sites you frequently visit? If so, it sounds like an issue related to Edge. Do you have a link to the older thread where you forwarded your cookie information to the developer?

For threads in your ignore list, I don't think it's based on cookies. If I ignore a thread it appears on my Ignore Threads page (currently unavailable at the moment but we're working on fixing it).

Hi, yuugotserved.
I was corresponding with mlively on 9-15-15 and 9-18-15 regarding SD cookies not being saved and/or recognized. I pm'ed him my SD cookie information to help him debug this.

By "ignoring" I mean:
1- Turning off the blue bar at the top "We've heard your feedback and are continuing to build a better Slickdeals. Click here to check out the updated site.". This blue bar pops up throughout my session and I can't quash it.

2- Hide the announcement of the Archived Deals while viewing the Hot Deals forum.

Hope this helps.

Gotcha. I'll go ahead and put a ticket in for investigation.

Can you provide me with the browser information so we can try to replicate?

If you're not sure where to find the version number, follow these steps:
  1. Click on the three dots on the top right of the browser
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Scroll down the bottom of the pane and under About this app section you will see the Edge version number.
Thanks!

My IE version here at work is 11.0.9600.18499. This browser remembers my login cookie but does not remember the items I've set to ignore (as mentioned in my prior msg).

My IE version at home may be different. When using that browser SD never recognizes my login cookie.

My browser at work also often doesn't remember the last time I was on SD, listing many of the FP deals as "new since your last visit".

Hi,

Are you using Internet Explorer and/or Microsoft Edge? They are two different browsers so I want to make sure I am including the correct information.

Sorry for the confusion. My browser at work is IE 11, not Edge.

Today the site cannot remember my login cookie and I have to login every time.

Is there any update on this? Thanks!
