Monoprice has their Maker Select V2 3d printer for $329 - $50 for a total $280 with the coupon MAKER15. Coupon also has 15% off all filament, which makes for some pretty good deals. Searched and didn't see this posted ( I am on mobile however, sorry about any errors!). This printer gets great reviews, I just ordered one yesterday for $329. Enjoy!

This is an excellent printer. I picked it up from Amazon a few months back. Assembly is 4 screws. I didn't have to calibrate a thing. Really good print quality as well.

Why no love for this post? Seems like a decent deal on the printer. Is any of the filament a good deal with the discount or would Amazon be a better choice?

MP filament is priced fairly and as far as I know is good filament too.

I went with a reel of the monoprice PLA after looking up people's reviews of it vis a vis other choices like the Hatchbox stuff on Amazon. Don't see many complaints; people seem to like it and with the coupon, it's ~$6 cheaper.

I missed the deal last week on this printer but I'm glad I did since now I'm in for one and a reel of filament for $300 with free shipping. Lucky me!

Seems like it. Got 2kg of plastic and a printer, $315 shipped. I had originally planned on getting a mini, but this is a pretty decent deal so I went with it.

Not a bad deal. But the hobbyking deal a couple days ago would have been better. I wish I had jumped on that.

FYI the monoprice filament does not fit on the spool holder that comes with the printer. You need to print out a longer one to make it work. I'd recommend hatchbox for your first spool, print out the mods you need with it and then experiment with different brands.

Remember to check that your printer comes with the fire crimp and the fire bed fixed. If not, please fix them. While 3D printing is fun, it's not burn down the house fun. Wink

I prefer this over the plus. You can put a box over the printing platform without harming the electronics. Can't do that with a plus. Print quality wise, they are the same.

I wouldn't even use that spool holder. The last thing you want is more weight on top of that gantry making things more wobbly. I would just print out one of the multitude of spool holders on Thingi.

I've had this printer 6+ months and I love it. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to find the cheapest filament. If you are new to 3D printing you will learn that prints take quite a while, especially at 0.1mm layer thickness. I don't burn through filament that fast and cleaning the die isn't fun (which I've had to do due to cheap filament). The biggest savings you are getting is purchasing this printer versus a MakerBot. The free Cura slicing software is fantastic.

What does the Maker Select Plus have to offer? I haven't found too much on it, something about 50% faster print speeds and a touch screen? I would be impressed if it actually printed all that faster. Going away from the microSD card to an SD card is nice.

The ultimate delivers 20 micron layers (5x more refined), however its 2x the price and some prints at 20 microns could take days or over a week.

The spool can be mounted on the control box as well as the frame.
