You do have to pay background fees and transfer fees. You can't just get these shipped directly to you...
No you don't if picking it up at cabelas. This should be the same as buying a firearm

Yeah, I wish I had a Cabela's... It's a great deal. I know it's normal price, but not normal for local gun stores or big box stores though.

am I correct in saying that I cannot pick up a stripped lower out of state (Michigan store, Ohio license) due to the fact it can be used in a pistol?

Doesn't matter what's it's used for, you can't buy any firearm across state lines without having it shipped back home through an ffl.

I'm "that guy" that drives around with the check engine light on hoping it goes away.

In for one.

Since when? Last I looked the federal statute allowed out of state in person purchase (only from an FFL) of long guns.

woah, i did not know that. does that mean that if you're a gun owner moving to a new state that you have to go thru that process too?

You are correct but the stripped lower isn't considered a long gun, so you would have to be in your home state.

No one on here will give you a better answer than the ATF 1-800 number. I believe you can register these lowers as a "rifle" or "other" but you're better off just spending 10 minutes by calling to get the correct answers
