This is a COB lamp [cob-led.com] not those cheap "10 LEDs" from last year.

I saw this on Amazon [amazon.com]for $40 - 15% = ~40 each

Costco has a 2 pack for $29 = $14.5- each + tax
  • Pure Beam Focusing Optic with Twist Focus Technology
  • Dual Color: White & Red
  • Light Output: High - 405 lumens; Low - 53 lumens
  • Beam Distance: High - 140 meters (459 ft); Low - 51 meters (167 ft)
  • Runtime: High - 2 hours; Low - 21 hours

I saw this today also. Seems like a great deal.

A similar model by Coast is the top rated headlamp per Outdoor Gear Lab. It looks like the reviews were done in May of 2015. The Costco one seems brighter at 405 lumens vs. 285 for the reviewed one.

I have the HL7 mentioned in the Outdoor Gear Lab article. It is a great product. Amazingly bright, if "only 285 lumens". The only downside is the batteries only last for a few hours on the brightest dimmer setting. (The more expensive models use multiple AA vs AAA for greater mAh)

I may pick up this deal at Costco to see how they compare. It seems to have similar battery life, but has the red LEDs as well, which is helpful when camping.

They also offer the HL7 model- online only 2-pack for 60

and
HL8 together with HP14 Flashlight Combo Pack

Thanks for that review EBR . I agree 3xAAA batteries have a really short lifespan - 2hrs on HIGH according to mfg, but I assume guys who are taking a long trip or go cave diving will hopefully do the math and buy the the HL8 with 4xAA batteries and 19hr+ lifespan

Hmmm. I checked all the links, what link in particular are you talking about?
BTW Slickdeals uses a 3rd party to redirect links in lieu referral bonus so your network might block some of them.

It says in the title that it's B&M only, so there likely isn't a link. The OP provided a photo though. Costco seems to stock the HL7 and HL8 online, but they are the same basic price as Amazon.

Good find. Although the prices are pretty much the same as Amazon: HL7: $30 and HL8: $60.

I was initially going to get the HL8, but it seemed so bulky on the front. They've since released the HL27, which appears to be the HL7 but uses 3 AAs for substantially better battery life. I think that makes the HL27 the better option for only $10 more than the HL7.

Sorry this seems to be a Warehouse deal only as of now.
Will keep you updated if I see it online.

I agree, 3xAA much is so much better and definitely worth the upgrade.

Personally, in middle of the night I would pay anything to get 6 extra hours of light so extra $10 is a bargain .LMAO

I wish there was a Costco closer to me. Can't bring myself to drive over an hour to one each way
