I am liking the look of this laptop, but does anyone know about this brand? Any personal experience?

And how's it compared to this:

Both laptops are based off the same barebones system by Clevo, who makes some of the best gaming laptops available. it won't be light and it won't be the sexiest, but it will be fast and it will stay relatively cool, which is about all you can hope for in something trying to replace a desktop gaming rig.

That said, this rig has some corners clearly cut. 8gb RAM? is this 2008? Same thing with the 128gb SSD. I'd want more, but these things can be addressed by you, so if entry price is your primary focus, this is a good deal, assuming you have the skills to address the shortcomings yourself (or smart friends). Personally, I'd wait for some Black Friday deals by one of the Clevo resellers (Sager, Prostar, etc.). Usually someone does a 10% or even 15% off and you can customize at will.

Now my question is this: will this be the cheapest price for a 1070 laptop in the next 3 months?

I don't think it will get much cheaper in few month. if it was 17" I would have got one.

Agreed. I understand they are laptops and need to be portable but I would really like a 17". I think 15.6 isn't bad though, which makes the Microcenter deal hard to say no too.

Indianajonesy,

Appreciate your input. We're not cutting corners with what we're offering for the internal hardware, we just continue to receive requests to buy a barebones PC so consumers can build on their own and of course are seeking the lowest up-front price. As stated in the product summary, "Consider this configuration just the start to your next great PC as many internal expansion ports await you!" If you'd like to up your storage to a 512GB SSD & 16GB RAM, we're offering the upgraded config for an extra $100 here: Link [amazon.com]. If you really want to build your own, we're offering the full barebone here: Link [newegg.com]. We'll be offering Black Friday pricing for the entire month of November this year.

So torn! I told myself I'd wait until tax returns to get a laptop, but these deals are almost too hard to pass up.

If you got patience to wait until your refund, do it. Pretty sure in 5-6 months, there would be more pascal gpu laptops and prices would stabilize more (maybe even saturate at lower than current)

The asus with g-sync and 16gb ram is only $130 more on Amazon. Think it was on eBay for $1250 recently. It also weighs under 5 lbs. Worth the extra bucks IMO.
