Would a decent video card make this a good gaming pc? Can one be built cheaper?

it would be hard to build a similar system put the same price. a i7-6700k is $300-330 by itself. That 2tb HD is $70. decent board is $120+

Also, how about if I want to run few VMs or even a IP Cam/NVR server at the same time?

Thanks for any input anyone can provide,

This is a buy. An almost identical configuration with only 8GB of RAM was a front page deal at essentially the same price:

HP 510-p024 Pavilion Desktop: I7-6700T, 8GB DDR4, 2TB HDD, Win 10 $500 + Free S&H

The CPU is a less power-hungry verrsion of i7-6700. Essentially, it is the same CPU running at a slower speed. Accordign to Passmark, it results in a 10% slower performance.

$500 out the door would be a solid deal. The tax kills it for me. current hp on amazon with more ram for $600 tax free
