Best price I've seen at newegg by $20. Still needs to be $50 lower IMO, but - at least temporarily - moving in the right direction.

UM $249 is the BF price. Unless you know of some place else that will have it for $200 besides Newegg.

I'm guessing that we'll just see the usual suspects (Mushkin, Adata, OCZ, etc.) on sale for about $200 or less, but maybe not Samsung.

I imagine that but not all those companies have a high regard for reliability or speed as Samsung. Not to mention being backed by a 5 year warranty. Many other ssd drives only carry a 3 year.

Also, Samsung is the only one having brand problems right now. Galaxy Note 7 anyone?
Adata, Mushkin, etc have no major push to lower prices to rebuild a damaged brand like Samsung does.

Agreed. I have two 850 evos and one SK Hynix. Samsung is my first choice for the warranty (very important to me) and the performance, but I can wait a little while longer for more space.

I'm also not interested in paying their currently inflated prices. I bought my two 500gb 850s for $135/$110 which is better than what we're seeing now. And while $250 is the best price I've seen at newegg (by $20) for the 1TB, I'm hopeful that we'll be doing better soon.

Just a data point - The SKH boots in well under 10 seconds (on i7), and though I believe it's technically slower than the evos, it's extremely hard to tell in day to day usage (on it now).

BTW - WD has raised the price, but the 1TB drive I'd be looking at in the $200 range would be the X400. If only WD didn't buy Sandisk... Sigh....

In all seriousness, Samsung can make some great products, but management in some of these different groups is stupid. I don't mean unlucky, I really mean I believe they're stupid.

They're screwing up washing machines, have done so with refrigerators, the Note 7 cluster fcuk, the poor decisions made to drop the battery/SD card on the Galaxy s6 turkey phone that tanked their market share, their (with few exceptions) one-and-done Android upgrade policy, and the list just continues. Greedy and stupid.

Sure they'll recover from all these because most people have the memories of gnats, but it doesn't excuse managements "cluelessness" IMO. I'd be firing management right and left (not the workers), but the "deciders".

try February or March when China dumps excess inventory on world markets.. that's how I got my brother laser printer $85 below street cost.. for this capacity maybe $180 to $200 is not out of the question.. but it would only happen during the q1 purge..

Feb or March? With Trump promising a trade war with China? For the US, we will pay the same, the difference paying the import tariff to pay for those magical tax cuts and wars we will be funding.

nothing happens instantly.. or is guaranteed like those people in the battleground states who LIED to the poll workers on who they were gonna vote for.. if Trump is LUCKY China will cave and "ALLOW" the USA to have more mfging jobs, to do much else in 4 years would create massive recession and tip 40% of retail into bankruptcy..

Think is you can't really label a Samsung memory fiasco that I'm aware of. OCZ on the other hand. LOL Wasn't it the Agility series that caused a whole slew of reliability issues and tarnished the brand for a good couple of years?

batteries =/= ssds. there is a reason samsung has the majority of the market share with ssds, because theyre the best
