I posted that these were $100 off in-store at Micro Center the other day. I'm still looking for a 15" from last year to go on sale, but noticed that Micro Center had dropped the price again, this time from 1,399.99 to 1,299.99 which is the equivalent of last years' base model and now $200.00 off MSRP, which I think actually qualifies as a reasonable deal this time. They have both space gray and silver.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, they only allow in-store pick up. I won't be near a Micro Center
until the day before Thanksgiving. Think they'll hold it that long for me at the store? Smilie

See I held off ordering the new MBP's because I expected that third party retailers would discount them eventually. If they start selling the base 13" Touch Bar model for ~$1500 I think I'm going to pull the trigger. But this is encouraging that the base model is being discounted already.

I know there are MAC lovers that aren't going to buy anything else BUT if you're just looking to buy a laptop-- you could get so much more in this price range by buying a Windows laptop. Much, much more.
Hardware wise yes. As someone who does tech support for my whole family(both sides including the grandparents), I wish more of them bought Macs. While Macs are not problem free, having a unified platform makes it does make things much easier. If something does need to get replaced, I can always tell them to go to Apple store instead of dealing with Dell tech support.

Oh yeah, laptop makers that cheap out using Marvell wifi can go DIAF (XPS 13 9350, SP4 Pro)

Fortunately, I will be getting one for free from work. But I would never pay for one. Macs are the biggest rip-off in the tech industry, well except for iPhones.
That's hardly the biggest rip off, if you want to compare it by % markup. Now things like cables, printer cartridge, etc have a WAY HIGHER % markup. The list is goes on and on.

The problem is that people buy the cheapest junk they can and don't even consider the warranty. For $600, you can get a really nice Latitude with a 3 year on-site warranty. The basic Dell tech support is bad, but premium support is excellent.

Man I wish the mods would do their job with these stupid claims. Show me a laptop with a better screen for $600. Show me a better built laptop for $600. Do it. Then when you fail to provide I'd ban your IP from visiting the site.

I was so excited about the new macs ... until I saw the specs, ports etc. Now I'm just disappointed and plan to get a PC laptop and make it Macable. Love OS X but I have to have ports and I want an optical drive and an SD slot. Post Jobs Apple has gone down hill.

I think these are really overpriced just because it's a new model. I was expecting these to sell for similar price from previous years. Windows laptops are becoming better in build quality so I thought the price would be more competitive. But if they can sell it at this price why wouldn't they?

I have a late 2013 rmbp 13 with Haswell, paid about $1400 for 8gb ram 256gb ssd and it's still going strong with great battery life. Being aluminium I probably took more care than the Thinkpads and Latitudes I had before this, and has no scratch, still looks new. I think Apple hardware build quality is top notch. One down side of these new macbookpro is that they use last gen cpu.

These are more like macbook cafe edition.. not pro.
