The Prime deal can't be gifted and can't add onto existing Prime memberships.

Tax in states below can be bypassed by changing both your default shipping address and billing address for the order to a state not in the list below and paying with Amazon Gift Card (as Amazon does not validate billing address for Gift Card purchases). You might have to refresh your cart after making these changes for the tax to be removed.

Amazon Prime is subject to tax in the following:

Alabama
Arizona
California
Colorado
Connecticut
District of Columbia
Florida (Communications Services Tax only)
Illinois
Kentucky
Massachusetts
Michigan
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin

Just a reminder to everyone after you get your new prime membership you can go into the cancel membership option, choose "Your Account --> Manage Your Prime Membership --> End Membership --> Continue to Cancel --> End on November 18, 2017". It doesn't really cancel anything. It just stops them from auto charging you in a year.

PSA: click "estimate tax & ship" to see the -$20 discount at checkout

Love Prime but I hate that companies share no love to existing customers on renewals. I'm not talking all the time. But heck throw us a bone from time to time.

Not for everyone, but we use free same day delivery, prime now free 2 hr delivery, prime music, prime video, kindle owners rental library, amazon family, and unlimited cloud photo storage enough that the 2 day delivery is not even a factor for us anymore. I think most people that complain about the cost of prime membership aren't fully utilizing the benefits it provides.

Just a heads up if you are a long time prime member like me. Be careful if you decide to Cancel then try to renew. you may lose some grandfathered benefits.

The issue is that now family members work differently, you can only share benefits with one adult in the household and you have to share payment options. So if you have more than one family member grandfathered in without requiring payment options to be shared you will lose that when you cancel.

Not gonna lie, but I signed up for Amazon Prime pretty much as soon as I found out that Clarkson signed with them.

I think so too. It doesn't make sense to attract existing subscribers. More prime subscribers meaning better for earning report lol.

Quick question. Has anyone renewed prime memberships at lower rates than the usual fixed rate? Does offers ever come for existing customers?

I am assuming the usual hack of gifting yourself the prime membership works? If so I plan to sign up for the next few years.

Clarkson has the same problem all boorish British TV personalities do (Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan). They were only funny the first hundred times they used their manufactured personas.
