Bestbuy has this full-size (2.2cu ft) microwave oven [bestbuy.com]
for an already low price of $210 (other places have it for about $309).
However, RMN has a new 20% off code on regular-priced, small appliances (RMNAPPLY20
) which takes it down to about $168
Edit: Don't forget 1% CB and Amex $25 off $250 purchase. You can get the Amex deal through multiple purchases adding up to $250 total.
If you count the Amex CB as another 10% and 1% EB CB, the total price (for me) would be $148.63 (before tax).
This is a large, stainless-steel full-size microwave with Inverter technology.
Our Panasonic microwave (with inverter) from 12 years ago finally broke a week ago and we've been on the hunt for a new one since. There are decent options on the market (LG 2.0 cu ft and Samsung 1.4 cu ft) for $149 on sale but, when we checked them out in person, we found them to be a bit cheaply made. In fact, most of the counter-top microwave ovens we've seen (checked Sears, Walmart, Bestbuy, Lowes, Home Depot, Macys) are cheaply made. The $500+ models are made well but they're about the same build quality as this one.
Even though 2.2cu ft seems large (our old one is 1.6), we measured this Panasonic and its dimensions are about the same as our old one, but a bit taller, which actually fits better under our cabinet.
Inverter technology, which runs microwave generator (magnetron) at a constant low speed (i.e. 20% or 50%), is patented by Panasonic so nobody else has it. Non-inverter microwaves run the magnetron at 100% full speed then turns on and off to obtain 50% power. They vary this alternating pattern to achieve different levels of power.
I did quite a bit of research in the past week as I waited for a replacement microwave hehe.
I also looked for all possible coupons but couldn't find them, until tonight. The 10% mover's coupon doesn't include Bestbuy anymore (at least in my area). Lost a $1 there but eh. This 20% off coupon made up for it.
