Hey Guys,

I was hoping for an Emotiva sale, but at 15% off I'm not sure how appealing this all is.

Would I be better off getting an older used Denon 3xxx or 4xxx or a Marantz 5xxx, 6xxx off of craigslist?

I feel like those could be had for around $200-300 or even cheaper. I understand that Emotiva may be in a separate class from even the Denon and Marantz AVRs. I also understand that we are talking about dedicated amps vs. all-in-ones but just wondering how much "value" I'd be getting from using dedicated amps.

Thoughts?

I'm currently driving Sonus Faber Venere 2.5, a lousy center and 2 Axiom something or other for the surround using a way-old Harman Kardon AVR 630.

Will there be a better sale? Or maybe I should look for used Emotiva gear...

What is with all those stupid high wattage amps? Fine for some speakers but mine play loud with a 3 watt tube amp, I just need a quality 50-80 watts tops.

A lot of people don't understand how wattage works. I blame the car audio industry.

i love emotiva but these sale prices are not that great. fyi - emotiva sells some items direct on ebay also.

i have an XPA-3 (paid $550) from the old emotiva warehouse sales they no longer do
i also have 2 XPA-1 (paid $595 each) from emotiva ebay

perfect amps fpr my power hungry KEF Reference 4 speakers and KEF Reference 105/3 speakers.

Not really
Power Output (two channels driven)

110 watts RMS per channel; 20 Hz - 20 kHz; THD < 0.1%; into 8 Ohms
210 watts RMS per channel; 1 kHz; THD < 1%; into 4 Ohms
Power Output (all channels driven)

80 watts RMS per channel; 20 Hz - 20 kHz; THD < 0.1%; into 8 Ohms
Power Bandwidth (at rated power; 8 Ohm load)

UPA-7
Power 8 Ohm All Channels Driven: 125W

20 Hz to 20 kHz (+ / - 0.07 dB).
Broad Band Frequency Response

5 Hz to 80 kHz (+ / - 1.8 dB).
THD < 0.1%; into 8 Ohms

UPA-7
Frequency Response: 10Hz-150kHz(-3dB)
THD: <.007%

Best of all
Weight

29.4 lbs (net)
35.8 lbs (boxed

UPA-7
Weight: 66

yeah, i'm nitpicking but the UPA-7 was a better amp. Just the 66lbs vs 29lbs says a lot about delivering the goods :-)
