As has been said before, Black Friday is turning into more and more of a joke. Companies want to be "first" to have access to your dollars, so they are starting their deals earlier each year. BF itself has been lackluster the past few years. The real deals are in the week or two leading up to BF IMO.

Bought this. Besides screen size what's the diff between the 70" and the 65" LG for $779?

This same set was on sale last week at Sam's Club for $998 and was a very popular deal from this thread. Many users have said that this set has HDR10 with 10bit panel and Dolby Vision. I'm not sure about the 65'' LG.

This is a better deal though, with double the warranty (quadruple if you have a Costco credit card).

The deal is for Costco, NOT Sam's. http://www.costco.com/LG-70%22-Cl...87073.html

I pulled the trigger on this after reading the reviews from the Sam's thread. This one seemed pretty genuine.

Not tonight, but tomorrow I can post my findings. I bought both this set and the 65ks8000 (the Costco model number) and ran them off of my Denon x6200 for simultaneous output immediately next to each other. I played sources from Amazon, YouTube, Netflix (all 4k hdr) and PS Vue, OTA dtv. I calibrated the Samsung according to the professional calibration specs, and then matched the lg as best as humanly possible over the course of an hour on each source until it was the closest I could. Then I proceeded to play the Samsung 4k hdr demo videos you see them use in the store. Final result: with both sources playing at the same time directly next to each other, Samsung will have a brighter white in pure white instances by only a very small lumen. Outside of pure white there is negligible brightness increase. Blacks show marginally more detail where detail is (think a shadow of a mountain under direct sunlight). However not running both displays next to each other you would never know either of these differences, which are also both removed when stepping anything over 30ish° from the centerline. Meaning anything beyond the primary viewing angle will lose any small advantage the Samsung has. The lg shockingly matched the Samsung pace for pace once calibrated and was even selected as better when it came to certain color reproductions by multiple people who knew nothing of the 2 TVs.

This result I know will bring in many saying bs as they live and breathe Samsung TVs and need justification. I entered this test with a large sum of money to acquire both, and the mindset that the Samsung would look better but hopefully not by too much. I leave the test keeping the lg, and given both sets at the same price point, I would almost always choose the lg depending on the situation. The lg handled colors just as well as the Samsung, with only a minute loss in brightness/dark details, which was lost instantly off angle for the samsung. The lg handled dark scenes like fireworks and fast paced movement like scenes from the new star wars just as well and usually better than the Samsung which did sometimes stutter if using the clear motion setting. If Costco had placed these 2 TVs next to each other and ran Samsung's juiced 4k demo videos, Samsung would be furious on the loss of sales, however that's not how the store displays are set up. I was genuinely shocked at how well the lg performed once properly calibrated, clearly there's more to this panel than the limit specs we thought we knew. I recommend it fully, and will post some pictures/video under direct light and pure black setups tomorrow

Me too. I was about to to find any means necessary to get the Sammy ks8000 for EPP pricing, but read that post and was sold on this tv. TU to oakl3y and all the other contributors from that thread.

Also worth noting from the other thread.

RGB, not RGBW
Multiple confirmations that the TV Netflix app supports Dolby Vision
10 bit panel confirmation from LG.
