Free Global WhatsApp Unlimited Data everywhere in 90+ Countries Sim Card $9.99 Free Shipping

-3 Deal Score

Knowroaming is offering a SIM card for $9.99 with Free unlimited data for WhatsApp ONLY. Unlimited data packages start at $7.99 a day but not required if you just want to use WhatsApp.

You must have an unlocked GSM phone and speeds are only at 3G.

Once I got the sim, they require you to download their app to register the sim. They ask you that you must load account with credit in order to use the sim but you can SKIP this step. I just had to change the APN setting and WhatsApp worked great. WhatsApp texting quality was good but voice was lagging a couple of seconds. WhatsApp Video was very choppy but they just started to support video recently so I hope they'll work out all the bugs.

so basically you pay 10 one time and you get unlimited access to whatsapp only? no catch?

I think I got the catch. When you pick a country it says how much it charges for SMS and data. Well if you put the data sim how do you stop everything else in your phone from using any data? So wouldn't you be charged for that?

I'm travelling in
Japan
SMS to Any Country
$0.38/SMS
Receive SMS
FREE
Use Data
$0.35/MB
Rates when I'm calling friends in Japan.
Call Landline
$0.49/min
Call Mobile
$0.58/min
Receive Calls
$0.45/min

I think the only catch is they want you to purchase Data plans and $9.99 for the sim. All other data on your phone will not work...only WhatsApp will work. My account shows a zero balance.

Seems like a referral fishing expedition. If this was legit, OP would post a $3 code. "New" member also adds to the red flag.

The local or regional prepaid service providers usually have better/lower rates. But it usually requires a higher initial cost to get a SIM and prepaid for credit in the account and you may have unused balance when you leave the country/regional.

I agree...their data plan for unlimited data for $7.99 a day is expensive and the speed is only at 3G. I am only using it for the free WhatsApp.

If you have T-mobile, you don't need this sim.

I guess this is a good deal. I don't travel but I have an unlocked phone sitting around and I can use it just for WhatsApp.

+1, thanks for the topic and for the code for $3 off. While WhatsApp is not so popular in US, it's very popular in many countries and can be used to get taxi or order pizza, so if your trip is short and you have no cheap roaming - I hope that card could save some money. Also free incoming sms is nice to use the card as second-auth device.
