savage rebate

seems to be a Dicks only rebate. the rebate on the website is only $30 but I have receipt in hand with $50 rebate.

** update : sighted in the 308 today, took 4 shots to have it in the bullseye at 200 yards. sub moa groups. was not boresighted to 100, it was boresighted to 50. scope moves as it should. measured , clicked, and money at 100, adjust, shoot, and move to 200 and money again. highly accurate even with the par or sub par factory scope.trigger does suck... but w/e dead nuts at 200 is a beautiful thing

so if you plan on scoping the gun with $129 Nikon buckmasters 3x9, you'll end up spending $320 + tax for a Nikon scoped savage axis after you receive the rebate.

retail is $379, buy 2, sell 1 for $300, and even after taxes for both guns you end up with $660-100rebates, -$300 sale of gun = $260, plus $120 in cash back, and you have a Nikon scoped rifle for $260.... pretty awesome

Savage has a $30 MIR, not $50. Where do you see the Dick's promotion listed?

on the receipt and if you look at the ad I posted their weekly circular shows it on the front page. just executed the deal. no issues except to get more than one you have to do separate transactions the dicks cash to work right

Hmmm, I don't see it. Am I blind or are you getting a regional circular?

Edit: Ok, now I See it... Had to zoom in.

Interesting that the circular says it's a $50 MIR from Savage when it's only a $30. $229 is still a good deal, though that scope isn't so good.

Sportman "deals" are all not honest deals because you gotta pay them $ for their annual membership fee

what scope is on it, I can't find any info other than 3-9x40 Bushnell® scope... I have a Bushnell buckhorn that I like a lot more than the Nikon i have on another gun. no experience with their cheap line though.

it's just a basic Bushnell. I can't find any markings on it other than Bushnell and 3x9. it's definitely no Nikon. or high end anything. looks like a Tasco with better eye relief

I'd think twice before using this strategy (buying one to sell).

IMO, the Savage is not a "runner up" to Ruger American. Wish they had a Muddy Girl in .308 My husband owns this rifle in 30-06. We took 3 deer with it last week. Edit: husband owns a Savage 111, not the Axis.

Confirmed. Only Bushnell-scoped rifles are $299.98 - all calibers; Nikon-scoped ones are no deal for $150 more. $50 Dick's card and $50 rebate print out at checkout.

Maybe I worded it wrong. Which do you think is better?

Sorry, I need to edit: My husband doesn't have this rifle, he has a Savage 111 with a Nikon scope. I much prefer the Savage 111, but this isn't the same rifle (but looks like it). He gets tighter groupings than his friend's Ruger American, but I suspect he is just a better shot. Neither have had a problem bringing down deer with their rifles (both are 30-06). I am seriously impressed with how well the Savage stays sighted in(with stock Nikon scope). We have driven down incredibly bumpy roads in the Nebraska Sandhills and sights are still dead on. I can't really speak to this particular Savage, but the 111 is, IMO, top of its class at that price point. I'm looking to buy another, so I don't have to borrow his. I'm quite tempted to pick one up (even though it's a "lesser" model, our experience is that Savage is an good value for the money). My nearest store is an hour drive, though. He paid about $400 AR for his 111, and it was well worth it.

I bought 2 savage axis XP, I'm the op. I don't like the bolt action up/extract, and the magazine seems super flimsy. after buying a Remington 783 a couole weeks ago, this trigger is not a good/great trigger. but - then again, for a 100-300 yd deer rifle, this is the best deal for the money. the Ruger American I have not held personally, but it also touts a clean break trigger, so id have to say the American is better, but it'll cost you about 2x as much as this price with no scope.
