I got an email from Honeywell advertising that the RTH8580WF Wi-Fi thermostat would be $79 at Home Depot starting November 24 while supplies last. Regular price at HD is $149. I attached a screenshot from the email.

Amazon has it for $126.45 and it has 4 stars

Southern California customers of Southern California Edison and/or SoCalGas can get up to $125 back in bill credits by enrolling in the Save Our Power Days program where you let the utility manage your thermostat on high demand power days. If they actually do need to manage your thermostat, you'll get additional bill credits. That would turn this in to a moneymaker. See the previous SD post

why would someone purchase this as oppose to the nest or other smart thermostats that are currently on sale? This is a lot cheaper but not sure of the benefits between this and the other ones.

Because it has a good deal of the features of the others at a fraction of the price. Although, I understand what you're saying. I think a Sensi would be a much better deal at $99. The Nest (and to a lesser degree the ecobee) are just overpriced compared to it.

Can you get the $125 SCE rebate on both, or is it 1 rebate per household?

EDIT: "You may register and enroll multiple thermostats, but only one thermostat per eligible home will be qualified to receive the incentives."

Darn, have 2 thermostats in the house.
