Need some help in deciding which lens to buy. I got a hand-me-down Canon Rebel XS camera with EF 50mm lens. I guess I need a basic zoom lens. Which one to buy? Not to expensive

The 55-250 would be a good choice for your needs. The 10-18 is an ultra wide zoom, which is the opposite of what you want Smilie

if you can find the 55-250 STM version, then that is a fantastic lens for the price. it reviews much better than the plain IS version.
