Galaxy S7 (Verizon) - FREE + $400 Best Buy Gift Card + FREE Gear VR (trade in and 24 months service required)

Cyber Monday Update: Original link is dead but deal still appears to be valid

Best Buy [bestbuy.com] is offering a FREE Galaxy S7 including a $400 gift card and Gear VR when you trade in an eligible phone and maintain service for 24 months.

STEP 1: purchase S7 on Device Payment Plan ($28/mo) from Best Buy. You only pay sales tax to Best Buy (approx $40-50, depending on your state). Instantly receive $400 gift card in store (possibly longer for online purchases).

STEP 2: Once your S7 is activated, trade in your phone to Verizon [verizonwireless.com]. They will ship you a box that you use to send your device in. If you're upgrading from an eligible phone (see below), your trade value should show $672.

STEP 3:
Submit a claim [samsungpromotions.com] for a free Samsung Gear VR

The phone is billed at full price less monthly trade-in credits as long as you maintain service for 24 months. Note: this appears to be a better deal than Verizon (Free with trade in) and previous Best Buy deals (full price phone with $450 gift cards).

Eligible Trade-Ins, per Verizon [vzw.com]:
$0 S7 Cost
Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5

$100 S7 Cost ($4.17/mo for 24 months)
Galaxy S5, Note 4

Trade-ins must be in good working & cosmetic condition.

Use the link below not OP link as the OP link has $250 for the S7 as is the hyperlink on that page

Someone has updated the wiki that Gift card is only $250. AFAIK, I and few other got $400 for Samsung S7 on Nov 26th, despite the BB link in OP stating a different value. Per the BB employee, go by the value mentioned on the product page. For example, Samsung S7 has this note below price "Included Free: $400 Best Buy E-Gift Card". Link to S7 product page http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsu...Id=4893100

Adding my experience as Wiki. Would appreciate if someone makes it more generic. Trade-in value grid https://ss7.vzw.com/is/content/Ve...oliday.pdf

User 1 experience
Step 1: Walked into Bestbuy with Samsung S6 with phone number ending 1234 and device balance paid off (fully owned by me)

Step 2: Enquired about the deal and BB rep was fully aware of it. I said I would like to upgrade my verizon number ending in 1234 and buy Samsung S7 32gb with Verizon device payment plan

Step 3: She asked my ID, SSN, Billing password and other stuff. Credit check Approved. She gave the new phone, SIM inside it with number 1234, $400 gift card and a sheet with Trade - in instruction (you don't need this sheet). I paid the tax of $40.

Step 4: I came home. Logged into my verizon account. Went to this page https://www.verizonwireless.com/p...-trade-in/ .. Followed the steps. Entered the details of my Samsung S6 device. For this question "Did you receive a trade-in promotional code?", I answered "NO". I and got this message.

Your appraised device value
$672.00
*Trade-in value is subject to change and depends on device condition upon receipt
Applied as $28.00 monthly bill credit over 24 months.
Your current market value of your device is:$145.00
Good news! You are eligible for a trade-in promotion and we have applied the promotion to your total trade-in value:$527.00

Before going to the store, I checked the trade in value of the S6 using the same link above and it showed $145.00

User 2 experience
For those like me who did this deal yesterday:
The Black Friday deal was $10 monthly for an S7 then trade-in value for S6 will be $240 with credit promo making it $0 for 24 months the remaining $430 in bill credits within 2-3 billing cycles.

So I need to trade in a s7 for another free phone of similar value? Just for the free $400 GC?

is this new customers only? The woman has been wanting to trade in her s6 edge and get an s7 anyhow. If it's everyone, seems like a great deal.

That trade in list is a complete joke compared to Verizon's - even though this entire deal is terrible and in 2 or 3 short years they have managed to figure out how to get everyone back on 2 year contracts AND give up phones worth a lot of $$$$ for the privilege....

Agreed, this is a sneaky move by Verizon. However I posted this b/c it seems like a better deal than Verizon, at least for someone like me (Have an S6, want to upgrade to S7).

Assuming I want to upgrade again in a year (after half of the $672 is paid off), I could sell the gift card and use that cash to pay off the phone. Rinse and repeat, if they have the same deal next year. That's my thinking at least, but who knows whether this works for upgrades.

You can add a line and cancel the previous one if it's not upgrade eligible?

Hahaha I'm actually tempted to do this.

edit: Can anyone point out the promotion credits that would make the phone free? I only see $28/month DPP and $400 in free GC on the page. Is it combing with this? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/v...9936057010

It's in store only. Savings are deducted off the full total price of the device and are reflected in reduced monthly payments over the life of the device. Bill credit will be applied within 2-3 billing cycles.

How much would I have to pay if I don't have a valid phone that I can trade in?

Depends on the phone.
Price list: https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/
S7 Edge is $20/month on some pages.

I like to buy Galaxy S7, but I don't have a phone that I can trade in.
I noticed that on Verizon's website that I can do it for $10/month.
Is BB deal better or the deal on Verizon's site is better?

It's a samsung promo, not best buy.
