Greetings fellow SDers!

This is the kind of comment that comes from ignorance of how to actually use the product. So, the user simply blames the product instead of trying to learn how to use it properly.

I have owned this device since the last Black Friday event. It is one of my favorite appliances.

Please understand what this appliance is. It is pressure cooker. This means it cooks food at high temperatures under pressure to accelerate the cooking process. To avoid burning your foods in the Instant Pot you must learn how much fluid you will need and more importantly what your cooking fluids will be made of.

For best results make sure that the food your cooking is fully submersed in the fluid you are cooking. You can certainly braise your meats and vegetables with a smaller amount of fluid that does not submerse your main ingredients, but the less fluid you have the higher the chance something will burn. It is something that takes experience with the ingredients you cook with in the Instant Pot to know how much or how little fluid you can get away with using.

The 2nd most important detail concerns what kind of fluid you are using. People don't seem to understand that any fluids that will burn in regular pot will just as easily burn in an Instant Pot. Thick, starchy, sugary, and syrupy fluids are the types that burn most often. The closer your fluid is to water in consistency will decrease the chance of burning. My preferred cooking fluids are pre-made chicken or beef stock from my local market. They are inexpensive, taste better than using plain water, and help you make a great soup for the next day!

I regularly pick up great cuts of beef and pork on sale at tremendous prices. These proteins are usually on sale because they are too tough for most other people who cook normally. The Instant Pot makes them incredibly tender and saves you a ton of money over the long term.

Here is just one basic recipe I regularly cook using my Instant Pot.

*~2 lbs Pork Shoulder with bone in
*4 lbs (64 oz) of chicken stock
*1 yellow onion cut in half
*3 to 5 cloves of garlic (your preference, I love garlic)
*a couple TBSPs of apple cider vinegar
*a couple TBSPs of salt
*a couple TBSPs of black pepper
**Use the Meat/Stew setting
**Set to high pressure
**180 minutes with bone, or 120 minutes without bone

I prefer to cook with bones as they add flavor to your broth. Also, after enough time the Instant Pot will soften them down where you can often outright eat them instead of throwing them away. The apple cider vinegar helps to break down the bone a lot.

After the pork shoulder is done cooking you will have a lot of leftover broth. You should allow it to cool to room temp and then refrigerate overnight. The fat will solidify, and you can easily skim it out or filter it out with a fine mesh colander. Boil the broth the next day either on your stove or in your instant pot and enjoy. Just be aware that if you reduce the broth on the stove by boiling it, the flavor will become even stronger for better or worse depending on how much you had already seasoned it.

TLDR

If you think you want an electric pressure cooker, get this one. Don't listen to people who don't know how to cook with it. Gain experience with it and learn how to cook with it. Fall in love with a kitchen appliance.

Got this during Prime Day in July . . . Fantastic device. The only complaint is if you have experience with a non electric pressure cooker, the start up to get hot on this is slower but the versatility and easiness is unmatched.
