Cheap if you need something basic.

Doesn't work with Blue Iris if you were looking for something like that. Apparently one of their more recent firmware disabled streaming so now you can only view it through their app.

Is that right? So you're able to view through blue iris? There isn't too much data about this camera and Blue Iris. Just saw one of the recent reviews said it was disabled and the Yi rep saying it was disabled by them.

But I'm also finding older instructions about how there's a workaround for it so I'm not sure what to believe.

Well if you mean out of box, my bad, it's sort of "disabled". Chinese version I think had binary incompatibility. I think reasoning about disabling it was for streaming jpeg causing issues. Streaming h264 works fine, just copy a script to microsd and it enables ssh, http server, and h264. I think it might have copied a lib, but it was straightforward really.

To answer your question about blue iris, sorry missed that, I tested both h264 streaming via vlc streaming and zoneminder in OS X running via docker. Both worked fine, which means it should work fine for blue iris. Saw about 1/3 second delay.

Hmmmm, if you buy 9+ the price drops to ~20 per with code ONTGG8GJ.... now if I only had friends (who wanted these.) and wow, they're able to be hacked to widen the FOV even... damn, I'm tempted but NFC what I'd actually use it for since I hardly ever leave the house, don't want to spy on my family, and have a few outside cameras Wink

these are excellent cameras. I am waiting for dropcam or nestcam outdoor enclosures to drop in price. at this cost, I might as well just buy a spare instead of an outdoor case.

can you use any ip camera app (tiny cam) to view live stream? does it have its own recording software to record to a network drive or ftp?

Word to the wise, bought 3 of these previously, lots of troubleshooting experience with them.

The video is OK, the sound is OK.

the wifi range is COMPLETE garbage. I have a TP-Link AC1750 Archer C7 and this thing is miserable. Extremely slow to connect for the one that's in the same room. If you get even one wall between the router and the camera, it simply doesn't work at all, or works 50% of the time.

I returned all but the one I kept in the same room as my router.

Additionally, you'll need an SD card to store local unless you want to use their cloud service.

Only their app works, does not work with smart things.
