I'm a big fan of AdGuard for both my phone and PC.

Yes, you can use Ad Blockers that alter your hosts file, but this is a smarter approach. It also works on non-rooted phones, which is a big plus for non-techie people.

This is the big question. Many ad blockers screw up SD link forwarding.

Yes, that's part of why I like it better than other blockers. It doesn't break affiliate links.

How is this better than free alternatives? Honest question.

Unless you root, the free alternatives for Android are very hit and miss

This is useful for people who doesn't want to root their phone. TU!

Is there any fix/workaround for the traffic/data counter problem?
https://kb.adguard.com/index.php?...ion-issues
(edit: Just realized SD messed up the link, search KnowledgeBase for 'traffic consumption')

It'll be nice if the app can notify/limit actual usage if we're close to the mobile data limit so we don't go over the quota.

Oh really? Been using https://block-this.com/ for a while on one of my devices which has no root method and it's both free and open source....as is DNS66 which is another free and open source alternative.

I would suggest folks try block-this first before paying for adguard and see if it meets your needs...both create "local vpn's" to filter the data coming through. A point not mentioned is when using these ad blockers you cannot use another VPN as android has a limitation of 1 at a time.

Personally on rooted devices I'll stick with adaway and on non-rooted block-this. If you whitelist slickdeals.net in just about any of these apps then the affiliate links should work just fine.

After the stunt Cerberus pulled with their not-so-lifetime license revocation, I'm leery of lifetime promises when it comes to software licenses.

Love Adguard on my non rooted S7 Edge. Works great to block both internet ads as well as in app ads.

I installed it on my phone and will give it a try. The sale ends on the 28th, so I have a couple days to decide.

I went with 1 lifetime license for my Android phone for $12.48, since the product seems to work well so far. My phone is not rooted, and I probably won't root it any time soon.

On my previous rooted phone, I ran Min Min Guard to block ads in apps. I also have uBlock Origin installed in my Firefox browser to block browser ads, but that might be superfluous now.
