Jumped on this one last night. I'd call it better than decent (and I'm curious how someone below will contradict ... and I feel someone will, perhaps legitimately).

The Camel says this is $20 cheaper than Amazon's ever had it. The poster of the YT video says (in the comments) this has an 8TB Red inside, which is going for about $320 when not on sale!! I was waiting for something promising on a WD 8TB RED to mirror against a Seagate 8TB NAS, and this fit the bill. Hopefully that video will work for me. Also, free ship and no tax for me from B&H.

Basically, with these 3 quick links, this deal gave me everything I could have hoped for! Thanks 8 trillion, OP!

You can also get this at BB for the same price but with the $25 visa checkout discount that would bring it down to $204 plus tax.

I think I saw the poster said it's a Blue one. It's not likely that WD would put a Red one at that price.

$250 has been the everyday price for over an year. If you are new customer on JET you get $30 which brings it down to this price.

Yes it has White Label Red drive (5400 RPM) the reason this is cheaper is because it has only one year warranty.

I'm looking for 10TB external and hoping the beginning batch of them come with HGST.

This is the newer (Oct 2016) model right? What's the difference vs WDBFJK version?
I think this one drops Smartware. Anything else?

Same software being included in box vs a download in my opinion is not a "difference" we care about.
Enclosure "design" differences, again, who cares?

The thing that matters is the 8TB DRIVE. Does anyone know if the same drives are in the
OLD 8TB WDBFJK0080HBK-NESN
vs.
NEW 8TB WDBBGB0080HBK-NESN

Knowing these corporations, newer is not necessarily better.
Are our chances of getting a better DRIVE the same if we get both enclosures?

Has anyone read anywhere about someone opening this new 8TB enclosure to find out what was inside? Lost of reports about the old enclosure but what about the new enclosure, the one from this deal - has anyone opened it on any web site / forum post? Which drive was inside?

I just found someone who did it and found REDs in there.

But there are no 10TB drives... that are anywhere near affordable.
8TB in the $200+ price range is max.
You are talking a year from now, if then. 10TB is not real in 2016, unfortunately.

I see a 2yr warranty on the Amazon page for this. Where is this 1yr coming from?

With that said, I'll own up to making a mistake in my research. When I first, quickly looked up the WD80EZZX model number cited in the YT video, I found it to be red, but now I see that was probably "what other customers bought/looked at/spat upon/whatever." So, that misinformation was my fault. That makes me significantly less excited about this deal, but still glad I didn't pay $250 or more for the 8TB I'm looking for. (And I never seem to find out about all these fancy Visa/AmEx/etc. reward tricks until after I buy something.

These new My Book models still have the same built-in encryption that interferes with data recovery?

I don't believe that WD makes an 8TB Blue drive. I looked on their website and the highest capacity Blue drive they list is 6TB. I see the comment on the disassembly video linked in the OP and I *think* it means that the 4TB is a Blue and the 8TB is a Red.

I did some searching online and I found several posts stating that the 8TB version is in fact a WD Red. There were even some people who found the HGST Helium filled 8TB drives inside their enclosure but that was much earlier in the year. I ordered one from BB and will be picking it up tomorrow. I guess I will find out when I open it if Christmas is coming early for me.
