MIGHT NOT WORK WITH WALMART GIFT CARD. AT LEAST ONE USER HAS REPORTED NOT GETTING THE $20 WALMART GIFT CARD WHEN BUYING A WALMART GIFT CARD TO SATISFY THE PURCHASE REQUIREMENT

BEWARE: This is VERY hit or miss, that is YMMV. Consistently across the thread, users report walmart pay asking for alternate form of payment, while removing the walmart pay as a payment option. The very same card added to walmart pay will work if you stuck it in the card reader at that time BUT walmart cashiers cannot give you a second try at walmart pay without voiding the whole transaction. Despite what is written above, walmart gift cards have worked for folks in this very thread YET others have been left high and dry with cartloads of groceries. The same card HAS worked for walmart pay in one small transaction AND then refused in the next. It is a crapshoot and an exercise in frustration.

However, if you do somehow manage to convince it to take a $100 order, the gift card is near instantaneous. The lottery is in getting it to accept your transaction. Credit, debit, the result does not really matter. Its as poorly implemented system. This is how it will go:

1. Scan QR code.
2. A message saying you are connected. Cashier sees walmart pay trying to get approval. Same on the card reader screen.
3. Both say alternate form of payment required.
4. Stick you connected card in the card reader and it will pay unless you really have a credit card problem but it wont be a walmart pay transaction and there is nothing the store employees can do except cancel everything and start over. Don't make the poor underpaid cashiers go through this useless cancellation.

Better options at getting discounts elsewhere. This is squarely a bug in the walmart pay app.

Just got back from Walmart and using my Walmart pay app with my Amex. Bought a Walmart gift card and a few small items so I was over $100, got home and the $20 gift card was already added to my account. Didn't have to register for any other site or wait on emails or anything special. Nice deal and simple to get.

Should be able to buy a GC for $100. I don't see it as an exclusion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No terms that restrict what the purchase is. Wondering if you could pick up a $100 VGC...
