I've been monitoring this one for a while now and jumped on it when I saw it in the deals section of Amazon this morning. Walmart had the SE425 for $299 around Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and I was starting to regret not snapping that up until Amazon came through with this one.

does anyone know how easy it is to import photos/logos to embroider? I want to be able to make custom designs, like a company logo etc.

Brother website says $399
Walmart $377
Jo-Ann $449 (reg $629)
overstock $349
amazon $224 ($319 reg)
That would make this a great deal, but confusing with prices all over the place

Got my wife one of these last year. The machine has some built in fonts and simple designs, and you can import .pes files abundantly available for sale on the internet. There is no native ability to make custom designs without external/third party software which can be quite pricey.

I have this same embroidery machine and wanted to do my own designs too. As another poster stated, digitizing software can be expensive!!!(Not a slick deal!) but, I did find "Stitch Era Universal" has a subscription plan for $2 a month. It's almost full featured and at this price, it limited you to I think 40,000 stitch designs. For this specific machine (4"x4") that has been fine.

Thanks for the info on Stitch Era - may give that a shot.

We're looking at Embrilliance Essentials ($140ish) to give more flexibility in lettering and sizing/placement/combining of existing designs, but the subscription model for digitizing sounds neat to try it out without too much initial outlay.

I ordered this earlier today. Great price, been watching this machine and the Disney model for a couple of months waiting for them to drop! Thanks for the tip on the subscription plans.

Ladies & gentlemen, can anyone reading this please recommend a sewing machine (or possibly just a gadget) that is really great at automatically sewing on buttons?

Button sewing/replacement will definitely be the majority of 'sewing 'stuff' around our house for awhile. I know I can Google this all day long... but I'd like to hear from folks who may have personal referrals of products they recommend. Any information provided will be greatly appreciated.

TIA!
