General Questions FAQ:
Best Buy CS Number: 1-888-237-8289
Verizon CS Number: Dial 611 or 1-800-922-0204
Verizon Fraud Prevention: 1-888-483-7200
Verizon Core Department: 1-866-338-7390
Verizon Core Department FAX NUMBER: 1-800-445-8485

Q:What if I want to do multiple lines on bestbuy.com?
A: Do multiple orders! For "New Customers", if you really dont want to go through a Best Buy's system server that hands off to Verizon. You may establish an Verizon account in a "Corporate" store first and activate a line. To do this you must have a nexus 6, iphone 5s, iphone 6, iphone 6s, or any phone that is ready and compatible with their network, basically BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone). After you have established a line you may proceed on doing this deal from best buy. You may also upgrade the current line that you just established but depending on the deal you may not get the gift card. I suggest you go into a corp store is because you are deal straight with verizon not some 3 party that can screw things up. For "Existing Customers" just select add a line.

Q: What is "DPP"?
A: DPP stands for Device Payment Plan. Also known as Device Payment Agreement (One of 2 Documents at checkout).

Q:What if I run into problems with credit check?
A: Call Verizon Fraud Prevention AND Core Department to see if everything is OK

Q: What if I run into problems with trying to order even after credit check went through?
A: Call Verizon Fraud Prevention AND Core Department to see if everything is OK

Q: What if my Account has been flagged after I have called Fraud Prevention and Core Department?
A: You are shit out of luck and if you already got a deal before just pay the dpp and get out and maybe after a year you can do these deals again with a new account. These flags drop off usually after 6-12 months of service with them if you intend on keeping service with Verizon.

Q: Why should I port out the line instead of calling them to cancel the line?
A: The main reason why you want to port out is better than straight up cancel is that you don't have to talk to verizon CS, and to prevent any flagging of the accounts you want to create in the future as well. CS are dicks and they can flag your account. Best Buy CS can flag your accounts as well. Also whenever you call to cancel, they will almost always ask you to return the equipment, so therefore just don't deal with that kind of headache and just port the number AFTER you paid the DPP.

Q: My Best Buy Order says "In Progress" for a almost 48 hours, What should I do?
A: Call Verizon Fraud Prevention and see if the applications is held for verification. If you need the application number you can call Best Buy and they can provide this to you. After you have checked with Verizon Fraud Department and if they said everything is OK. Call best buy and ask them where the heck is your order and why didn't they ship it out yet (be nice they are humans with emotions too).

Q: I was a new customer and I ported a phone number in. How can I check my status of the port?
A: http://www.verizonwireless.com/port

Q: I am an existing customer and I have bill credits from a previous trade in deal, can I still upgrade?
A: IF YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS TRADE IN CREDIT WITH VERIZON ON THE CURRENT LINE THAT YOU ARE UPGRADING YOU WILL LOSE THOSE CREDITS!

Q: OH NO, I agreed to 2 different documents on best buy.com and I am afraid of the first document saying something like ETF and this fee and blah blah blah. I am freaking out what should I do?
A: First, calm your ass down. Second, the first document you agreed to is just their standard literature for Verizon's Terms of Service. They have to disclose this whenever you are either on contract or off contract. As long as you are device payment plan/agreement, you are not on a service contract. You are only liable for payments that they financed on the device and the cell phone service charges. The "cell phone service" is a non-contract type of service. Therefore stop hyperventilating and calm down.

Q: After I ported out my lines, what do I do next?
A: Your account will automatically be cancelled. They will send you a final bill. Usually they will send out 2 bills. First bill is for the first month with prorated charges, and the second bill is just 0.00 (after you paid the first) to say you dont owe anything and your account is set to close out completely.

Q: How can I make sure that the line/account is cancelled?
A: The line you ported out will no longer show on your account or you can't access My Verizon anymore.

Q: Wait why can't i pay off DPP in my verizon? I spoke to CS and they gave me some answer along the lines that my account needs to be established for 30 days!
A: There is a way to do this.... Its called go into a corp store and pay off the DPP. After you paid off the DPP you may proceed to port out.

Q: Do I need to keep my service for 14 days?
A: No, as long as you paid your dpp you can cancel anytime.

Q: Can I do multiple ports in a single day to cancel a plan?
A: Yes, as long as you paid all of the dpp for each of the lines then you can proceed on porting out all lines.

Q: There was a suggestion to port out within 3 days after activation. Why is that?
A: I suggested you port out within 3 days is because you can get it at prorated charges and ask for the activation fee back.

Q: Should I suspend the line?
A: That's a big NO, please see notes below!

Q: Why are Verizon iPhones and other devices so popular?
A: Verizon devices are sim unlocked so they may be used with AT&T and T-Mobile or any MVNO. Devices such as google pixel and iPhones are compatible with Sprint as well. It varies by device.

Q:What if the moon falls into the ocean?
A: If you are worried about this please seek mental health immediately.

Notes/Information:

THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE FROM VERIZON FRAUD PREVENTION AND CORE DEPARTMENT. IF YOU SUSPEND ANY LINES YOU ARE "SUBJECTED" TO BEING FLAGGED. FRAUD PREVENTION AND CORE DEPARTMENTS ARE WHO APPROVE YOUR LINES AND APPLICATIONS. DO NOT SCREW AROUND WITH THEM. AS A NEW CUSTOMER YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY ON PROBATION 6-12 MONTHS. IF YOU ARE A NEW CUSTOMER DO NOT SUSPEND YOUR LINES! IT WILL TRIGGER AUTOMATIC RED FLAG. SOME DO GET LUCKY, IF YOU WANT TO PRESS YOUR LUCK BY ALL MEANS DO IT!!!!!

Screen shots of chats from verizon are below for verification that DPP has no ETF and 2 - Year contract does. (the Verizon agreement when you look at best buy it will say it has a ETF but its only pertains to phones that are purchased on a subsidized amount. The second agreement is DPP is the amount financed thats the actual price of the phone which is not subsidized.)

Existing Verizon Customers: Yes once you upgrade and get the phone and paid off you can do it again on that same line. BUT dont go over 2 per line because fraud and core department are very good at detecting these things. Be warned that they may flag your account. Some has success some run into a brick wall.

Information for UDP customers: If you are in a contract you will not be able to upgrade and get the device on DPP. However, you should be able to add a line or create a new or sub account for a single (or multiple lines of service whatever floats your boat). By adding a line (or separate account) you can buy the phone on DPP and pay off the DPP and port out that line that was recently created. Afterwards you can just slip the UDP sim card into the iPhone. Verizon LTE lines are basically attached to the SIM cards now and no longer require for you to go into the store and get a new sim card every time unless you need a different size sim, but i do suggest just get a nano sim card and buy $1 adapters from ebay or amazon.

Lastly, I will answer questions via PMs only if you read through the walk through. I had enough of "New Users" of spreading false information or scrutinizing every single little word of this walk through. But i will keep on updating on information as people ask me questions. If you have a situation and I have not answered it in this FAQ/Walk-through you may PM me as well.

Thank you for all the reps and people in threads for reading and trusting my information. Reps were and are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

PSA - All verizon 4g postpaid phones are sim unlocked. that's ALL of them, paid in full, two year contract, payment plan... ALL unlocked.

The first sim you should use in any new iPhone is Verizon. Verizon for first activation of iPhone = unlocked iPhone. This is true with most/all iPhones including att, t-mobile, sprint, us cell, etc.... if you activate the iPhone, for the first time, out of the box with a verizon postpaid sim, the phone will be sim unlocked. you can activate over wifi, the sim does not have to be new, the sim does not have to be active, the sim only has to be a Verizon postpaid sim. On the flip side, if you stick a T-mobile sim in a new verizon iPhone for activating the iPhone for the first time, your iphone will be locked to t-mobile even when the iphone is a verizon iphone.

This is FALSE!!!

Well that is WRONG too. New customers WILL be asked to port in. They should NOT use a GV number.

They also need to know what a huge hassle port ins that you do through BB online are. Your line activation will be future dated and your line/phone will not activate for days.

BestBuy has an Apple sale event [bestbuy.com].

Notable cell phone deals are:

Verizon iPhone 6S 32GB - $14.99/mo * 24mo
or
Verizon iPhone 6S Plus 32GB - $19.99/mo * 24mo

In addition, there's a current $200 BestBuy GC promotion (supposed to end on the 12/10) for adding a new line.

This is in addition to the much-discussed iPhone SE deal

These prices require a new DPP agreement. DPP agreements can be paid off at any time.

Many people currently have opened account to take advantage of the iPhone SE promo, so they can easily add new lines to take advantage of this promo as well.

Not strictly speaking true. I ported lines from Ring.to with surprising ease. The only delay was because they're considered land lines. Phones were active when they arrived (I ordered with shipping).

If you port in from online, your line activation is going to be delayed. Your phone will not activate when you turn it on. It can take several days for your line/phone to activate.

I think the experience porting in a GV number has been universal. Bad idea.

Well Ring.To isn't letting new people create accounts any more so that is of no help to anyone except those who already have a Ring.To account. I have one so I know they are a good company but the port ins aren't immediate, they take a few days.

Prepaid provider is much better. Can't be Verizon prepaid though.

True but some screw up by porting out too early. I been having PMs about that. Yes Verizon sucks taking their sweet ass time to port GV numbers but I did try my best to help all whoever pmed me. Plus I wrote all this information from the past 3 threads and some information like pay off and port out was from previous thread i started from target long time ago.

This is false. Make a few calls/texts from the new line and suspend with reduced billing before porting out to maximize your chances that the bill will be prorated.

Verizon isn't the problem. The problem is that BB's online system future dates the activations and that GV numbers are landline numbers so they take a few business days to complete the port.

I use GoPhone but TMobile should work too. If you use GoPhone, you need an AT&T SIM card and an unlocked GSM phone IMEI/MEID/ESN.

The problem is usually encountered when people are paying off multiple DPP's of the same amount. Sometimes but not always the Verizon system thinks it is a duplicate payment and rejects the second payment.
