Walmart YMMV Deals - Getting In-Store Pickup Orders to Auto-Adjust to Store Clearance Price

Do any of you know the latest trick for ordering in-store at walmart to get the local clearance price auto-adjusted during in-store pickup?

I thought I had it figured out - find a store with the clearance price, and then order for site-to-store pickup. At pickup, the system would auto-adjust the price to the lower in-store price.

That seemed to work, but the last few times I tried that it did not - and I can't figure out why not, unless this "glitch" was fixed.

At first I thought it may have been that the store no longer carried the item - the first time it happened that's what the manager was telling me. However, one of my orders the store did have a few in stock at clearance price, but still my ship-to-store order was not auto-adjusted.

If you've successfully done this recently, can you please share what it is that makes site-to-store pickup orders auto-adjust to the lower in-store clearance price? Send me a PM if it shouldn't be public, or point to another thread if it's being discussed somewhere.

also - i have had 0 luck with return/rebuy across at least 3 stores - that is definitely YMMV. If someone figures out to do this a non-YMMV way please share

I made about 10 purchases online with pickup at a store with lower price in the past 6 months, or so. I never got the price auto-adjusted to the local lower amount. I'm glad to hear that others have, but that never worked for me.

Return-rebuy is always a huge YMMV, and, as attempts at this method became popular with the noobs, it is harder and harder to find employees willing to assist with it.

I ordered online and pick up at store #2(who has a regular price), after that, I drove to store #1 (who has a clearance price, but shows "Conflicting data was obtained for the above record. A quantity of 0 was returned but at least "Limited Availability" was returned by the store." on brickseek) immediately.

Go to guest service for return/rebuy, the lady look up the order, scan some barcode on the box, and told me there is serial number tied to store #1, if I want to return I need to go to store #1. Also she did mention I just picked it up. I asked her can I bring it back a few days later and return it, she is not sure.

Have you guys ever having this problem? How to solve this?

Yes - with electronics, there is some tie to the online order with the serial #s of the item, to return it the customer service person needs to enter/scan the serial # to match the online order.

If it's this kind of item they usually have to return it to the warehouse and cannot simply add it back to store inventory to let you rebuy at the clearance price.

in my experience, the return/rebuy at a clearance store has never worked at a few stores so I basically assume that will never work.

yeah return/rebuy is very YMMV. I don't even try it.

I have successfully done it within the last 2 weeks. From my experience, and what I have heard from others, If you do in store pickup it has to be filled from that stores current stock. So basically if you order online, and it is available for same day or next day in store pickup, than you are probably good. When you pick up the item, the cashier should get a prompt that there is a price adjustment, and then you will get an email letting you know the details. My email came almost immediately after picking up my item. I bought a 12 piece set of Rachael Ray pots and pans that was full price online, but the store I ordered from had them on clearance, and it was available for same day pick-up. The email from Walmart showed the price adjustment I had received, and that I only ended up paying $40.

If the item you order is not available for same day or next day pick-up, then they are probably shipping from the warehouse, and the price will not adjust.

Also, I am not sure how accurate this is, but I have seen multiple blogs stating that if you try the return/rebuy Walmart might ban your account. Apparently they say they are cracking down on it.

I think i might try this. For an item i want a lot of Brickseek showed 24 available and Walmart app showed in stock. I went to the store and bought 8, but they said they didn't have any more. I got home and the brickseek amount adjusted correctly to what i bought, and Walmart app still shows in stock.

They are almost $100 each regular price so it's a lot of money to tie up, and it's about a 30 minute drive

Prices for in stock items will automatically be adjusted. However items that are out of stock and shipped to the store will not adjust. You can try taking your ship to store item straight to the returns and see if they'll return and repurchase the item. I just did that today and got a gift card for the difference.

Hi
I placed an order that had same day pickup. I got an email though saying the order was delayed and could be picked up in about 5 days. I chatted and they said it had to be shipped to the store.
Does anyone know in this situation if it acts like a ship to store or a same-day store pickup which auto-adjusts?

thanks!

I am 90% sure that acts as a ship-to-store. I believe I tried it out once. You could always try it and see, then report back here if not.

Thanks! That was my suspicion. This is a large item which would be a pain to bring back to the store later on. (A grill)

Would it make sense to just ask them to lower the price on the spot? (Ask them to verify the in-store price and give me that)

How long does it typically take to get the "price adjusted" email? Is it instant or some slight delay?
