For those that want a Joule instead of the Anova. These don't go on sale very often. Not as low as the $150 price back in Aug but I haven't seen it on sale again lately. You have to order it through Alexa.

There are $20 off coupon codes out there that will work on chefsteps.com if you don't have access to Alexa. I found one on the reddit sous vide site but I may cancel my order. Fakespot is showing lots of false reviews for this item on Amazon:

I've got one of these that I have used for about 6 meals now and am overall really happy with it. Dead simple to make perfectly cooked meals and I love how it takes up so little space in my already crammed kitchen. The app is surprisingly good as well. There are a few minor annoyances, but nothing that would hold me back from buying again - the clamping mechanism doesn't seem to work well with all containers and the joule sometimes disconnects from the app (only once has it actually stopped heating though). I am surprised, and a little bit disappointed, by the fakespot rating. Not sure what is driving that...large number of non-verified purchasers maybe?

PROS of Sous Vide cooking
* Consistent results every time
* More succulent proteins
* Preparing 1 steak is just as easy as preparing 10 steaks
* Proteins have a lot of wiggle room on timing, your sides aren't ready yet? No problem, your steaks are ready with little effort once everything else comes together.
* It's not just for steaks. The juiciest chicken breasts you've ever had. Perfect eggs. Dead simple Hollandaise! Infused booze! Pre-buttered corn on the cob!

I owned the Wifi Nomiku, the Anova and the Joule and can say the Joule wins out in terms of form factor and app control

Yep. I have the Joule along with the Anova. If you absolutely hate the thought of using your phone app to operate your sous-vide machine, then don't get the Joule. Otherwise, the Joule is simply a fabulous machine. When I compare physical dimensions of the Joule to the Anova, there's no contest.

I brought both into work one day because a coworker was interested in both but couldn't decide. After seeing them first hand, and playing around in the Joule app, he hands down chose the Joule over the Anova.

Have the Joule and love it. For people hesitant about it requiring an app to use it, you can download the app first and test it out, without having a Joule. Their app is awesome, and so is the Joule.

Try "soo veed". The first word sounds like Soup without the P, the second sounds like Weed with a V.

Is 10% off about the best you're going to get on this? No 20% off deals? Anyone have a chefsteps referral code or anything like that?

This appears to have expired. Such a shame it was valid this morning but not when I got home.
