Big word of caution on these. My brother got these and I helped him install them when he redid is house.

The good: they sound amazing.

The bad: the speakers don't have universal mount holes for speaker mounts. They use this proprietary mount that only attaches to the bottom of the speaker. This means they only swivel left and right - you cannot aim them up/down like traditional speaker wall mounts. If your set up allows all speakers to be at ear level, then it should be OK. However if you're mounting them up on the ceiling, etc or have other limitations, this means you won't be able to aim them at you.

The provided wall mounts also suck pretty bad and are terribly designed. The hole mounts are too close together which makes mounting into a stud tricky and if you use drywall mounts it's impossible. For my brothers we ended up just making triangle shelves that sit in a corner and then rested the speakers on those.

While they sound great - I would pass on these as the lack of universal mounts for speaker mounts is a deal killer and makes them too much of a PITA. And the included hardware sucks too much to make up for the lack of mounts.

This is not the same set. This isn't quite as good. The other set was the HKTS 16, a slight step up from this HKTS 9.

It isn't clear in the spec... what is the height of the satellite speakers and can they be laid on their side?

I have a HK AVR 1700 with Energy RC Micro speakers and Pioneer SW-8. Should I upgrade to these?

What do you prefer/suggest over 5.1? Are you suggesting 6.1, 7.1?

5.1.4 Dolby Atmos. but it would take a serious receiver and 4 additional ceiling speakers to get there if you start with this set.
