I bought this a couple weeks ago for same price.

-easiest upgrade ever. 1 screw to remove the entire bottom panel
-has an open 80mm m.2 slot for ssd. I used the Microcenter $50 256GB m600.
-the 8gb is a single stick and there is an open ddr slot.

I would love to know if the m.2 supports PCIE. I used a SATA since I could not find documentation. The screen is beautiful and it runs Skyrim at ultra settings smoothly; I have fallout 4 also on ultra but not tested it much yet. Opening scenes were smooth. Battery lasts full school day with dim screen and no gaming.

Don't forget the 10% student discount. Not sure how it works online but in-store parents, students, teachers, of grade school, high school and college are eligible.

edit: Sorry, the two games mentioned are running at 1080p not 4k. The 960m is not enough for 4k. But the 1080 setting looks nice and you still have 4k for every other non-game application.

Also, as i suggested i obtained the student discount in store not online.

Ordered this for my wife for Christmas. She better be freakin' ecstatic or I'm keeping it for myself...
Thanks for posting OP.

Edit: I had a question. I see that it has DDR3 memory and not the newer DDR4. How much of a difference is that going to make and is it possible to switch out DDR3 for 4 later on?

The difference depends on user usage and demands of apps running on the machine. You may NOT upgrade from DDR3 to DDR4 since the memory slot will not allow it. For comparative advantage see: http://www.howtogeek.com/238990/w...-ddr4-ram/

Did you get a student discount over the $750 price tag? I got mine at Black Friday when it was $799 down to $719, when I saw for $750 I took it back to get $50 back, they said the student discount cannot be applied over another discount...

In store they just asked for my edu email when I got it at $799 few weeks ago, but when I tried going back to get the discount at this price they said they are not able to apply the discount over a already discounted product

On low setting, or lower 720p resolution. Check out play tests/benchmarks on Youtube for the Nvidia 960M and any games you are interested in playing.

I've had this laptop for about 2 months and I'm loving it. The 4k screen is absolutely beautiful. Great colors, but slightly warm, which I prefer. Great viewing angle. Can still get ~4-5 hours of battery life with typical school/lecture use. Upgraded to 16 gb ram, and added a M.2 SATA SSD. This laptop does NOT support PCIE, but speeds are fast enough for me.

My next upgrade would probably be a new WiFi card, possibly to the Intel 8260.

How does this compare as it would be used for a desktop replacement.
