Use coupon XIAOFANG. Use it to bring the price down to $26.99 + Free Shipping. Great price for this cam, I have 5 of the older 720p cams and they work great to monitor the house. Using 2 to monitor kid's room now, has built in cloud recording feature as well. Enjoy

Be aware that this is not Xiaomi product. This product is actually made by another company called iHeath which is not even a subsidiary of Xiaomi.

Once you receive the product, you will notice that the brand of this product is XiaoFang which is a totally different brand from Xiaomi or Xiaoyi. This camera is sold for 99 Chinese Yuan in China, the equivalent of about $14.25 USD which is much cheaper than genuine Xiaomi cameras.
BTW, XiaoFang is the name of the product, "Lil Square".

Apparently these cameras can be used with the iSmartAlarm, app: https://www.ismartalarm.com/board...t-costs-15

They are the same camera. iSmartAlarm claims they designed it, and it is my opinion that it was manufactured by Xiaomi, which then improved it by making it 1080p (vs 720p) and sold it themselves. iSmartAlarm themselves is staying hush hush about the link to Xiaomi.

Its not really a copycat as both Xiaofang and Spot are products of Chinese parent company Jiuan or Andon. Xiaofang is an upgraded version of Spot. This Xiaofang actually isn't made by Xiaomi, but by a Hong Kong company called iHealth. It was a crowdfunded project and priced at 99 CNY instead of Spot's 99 USD. 99 CNY is about 14.25 USD. The reason Xiaomi was mention with this webcam is because it was crowdfunded by Xiaomi's crowdfunding site. The real Xiaomi wifi webcam is also on the crowdfunding site and priced at 399 CNY.

I'm going to put one in my garage to watch my cars and tools, another one at the front of the house and 2 to watch my kids, if the Chinese really want to watch that I'm ok with it. LOL, sometimes I think people are a bit too paranoid. It's like when my father in law, who's an older gentleman gambles online and loses his $50, he thinks someone is on the other side watching him and trying to rob him of his $50. I get a good laugh from it. laugh out loud

I am kinda shocked at the number of tinfoil nut balls in this thread. Yes. It's a camera that's connected to the internet. Is it possible to be hacked? Yes. But why would a hacker want to watch my cat sleep?

I'd be more worried about a backdoor in this that would give access to your computer. HOWEVER. Xiaomi is a $46b company. They are not a flash in the pan. If someone took this thing apart and discovered malicious code the company would lose billions of dollars. They have no motive to do something like this.

Same with people thinking their echo is spying on them. Get over it people and focus on real security issues. Like using the same weak password on every site or using WEP wi-fi security or connecting to random wifi APs. Also most people carry a smartphone that tracks your movements and can see and hear everything you do. And they can be hacked. Many of the parts are made in China. So why aren't people switching back to feature phones? Because you have to accept risk sometimes. I drive 30min to work everyday. That's the riskiest thing I do. Auto accidents are a leading cause of death and injury. But I accept the risk. It's good to understand the risks. Is there risk in buying this webcam… yes. But IMO it's miniscule. You are way more likely to get conned by someone on the phone or an email phishing scheme.

Being aware of risk is a good thing. Over inflating risk is a called paranoia and is dangerous on many levels.

Could you elaborate on the cloud recording feature?
Is it free?
Where can I look it up for more detail?
Thanks!

You have to use their Mi app, and it allows you to record short clips to their server whenever motion is detected. Yes, its free. You also have the option to record onto a micro SD card that you can stream over the internet.

Sounds like the gearbest one is on international firmware (at least from their Q&A) while the lightinthebox one is the chinese version.

Does this have hackable firmware to add RTSP stream?

Does the free app give push notifications to your email or the smartphone app when motion is detected? Can you watch the cam live from your phone over phone data connection away from home?

There is push notification, I don't think there's e-mail notification. And yes, you can watch the videos live.
