If you register for a free 'Pro Xtra' account with Home Depot you will get emailed a coupon good for $20 off a purchase of $200 or more. I signed up by calling a Home Depot and registering over the phone. Later that day I received a 'welcome' email with the $20 off $200 coupon, and the $5 off $50 coupon.

The next day I registered online (here: https://hdapps.homedepot.com/Cust...gistration) using random fake information but a real email address (using the gmail 'period' trick). A few days later (I want to say 3??) I received emails with the $20 off $200 coupon.

Interestingly enough the email I received for registration over the phone (with the pro desk at Home Depot) had a different looking coupon then the online registration, and also included a $5 off $50 coupon as well, where as the online registration method only yielded the $20 off $200 coupon.

The coupons seem to expire 2 weeks after the date they are issued. The coupons I have in my email currently expire 12/30, but the first one I received expired 12/27.

I did a search and didn't find this posted. My apologies if its covered somewhere and I just didnt see it (or if it doesnt qualify as a SD per the rules... first time poster).

p.s. The only reason I was signing up for the Pro Xtra account in the first place is because I learned that if you are making a large purchase (currently over 1K worth) of materials (not sure what qualifies, but I was buying insulation and lumber) you can get a discount of at least 4% through the pro desk (by submitting your purchase to what they call the 'bid room'). I didnt actually end up doing this though because I used a 10% off coupon I bought on ebay, and you cant stack (at least they didnt let me).

EDIT: This is actually advertised on the Pro Xtra HD website here;
