Plan your purchase before you go using their website, planning tools, [ikea.com]apps [ikea.com]. Measure your space, take pictures, will you be blocking any outlets, light switches? This will help you in case you find something you didn't plan on buying. You won't have to wonder if it works and you won't have to make another trip.

TIP#1: You can always check out, take your purchase to Furniture Delivery/Pick Up, sign a form, and they will make a copy of your receipt, hold the cart for you until you pick it up - which must be done by end of day! Maybe Treat Yo Self and go have lunch at a nice place nearby because you are going to be starving by then. Come back when you are ready with your receipts, park in loading zone, go inside to that same place, show your receipts and load up.

TIP#2: Sign up for IKEA Family [ikea-usa.com] b/c anything in store with Orange Price Tag needs that for the discounted price. You can download the App so you can show your card on your phone at the same time you are showing the coupon.

TIP#3: IKEA Family card holders can do price adjustments within 90 days so always scan your card, even if you are not buying a Family offer item. ex. Last year they did all PAX 15% off in January, so you can bring your receipts back and get some money back!

TIP#4: Check their Desktop website for your local store's page [ikea-usa.com] - they have additional offers listed there and many Local Stores have their own twitter pages where they list deals. Offers do not appear on mobile versions of store pages.

TIP#5: Download the App for the list making abilities. It shows you the location of your items in your warehouse in one place. Also shows you stock. Use desktop site for better stock check though because you can click the stock prognosis button for more accurate stock.

TIP#6: While you are there, go to the "i" desk before you leave, ask them for the secret extension to get a live person at that desk if you ever have to call your local warehouse and actually get a real live person!

TIP#7: In case you never heard that there was a recall on many, many, many dressers going years back. You can read about it here and get some cash [ikea.com] for your old dresser and or upgrade, with likely an additional cost.

TIP#8: Just like any other store, IKEA carries a range of furniture in a range of prices. Not all pieces are built the same, ex. some are made of cardboard, others solid wood. Consider this when purchasing.

I'll warn people about IKEA's tufted carpets - these are the kind where they use glue on the back to hold the carpet threads to the carpet. The glue is absolutely toxic, and it off-gases for a long time. I bought one, opened it on a screen porch, and it still reeked a month later. I returned it.

I own an IKEA HEMNES bed, which is made of solid wood with a galvanized steel center support beam. It's never broken on me. In fact, I broke my toe on it (accidentally kicking it in the dark!).

I just noticed this:

IKEA FAMILY Members Eat for FREE

Winter Sale Weekdays, December 31, January 1, 7 & 8
Dine in our Restaurant and we'll deduct your Restaurant total from any home furnishings purchase over $100!

How it works:
1. Purchase your meal in our Restaurant.
2. Receive a coupon with your receipt.
3. Present IKEA Family Card to store cashier.
4. Give your coupon and receipt to the Check-outs cashier and receive the total amount of your meal deducted from your purchase of over $100.

So if I order and pay $100 worth of food, check out a $100 furniture. It will be free?

You have to buy $100.01 of furniture, then your restaurant bill is deducted from the furniture purchase.

What I'm interested to know is if you can use gift cards with this deal. (So buy $100 gift cards, get the free $10 vouchers, eat in the restaurant, then get the restaurant bill deducted from the furniture cost and pay with the gift cards.)

How do you get the $10 food voucher with $100 gift card? I don't see anything about that on the IKEA website.

You have to visit your store page. But there it says the gift card offer isn't combinable with the eat for free offer, so I guess I just answered my question...

The kalax for 20 is a great deal.

Also the henje (30% off) is the perfect height to mount a projector from if you live in an apartment or don't want to/can't drill your ceiling (I use one for this)
