I think OP means it is $199 after the discount and includes a free yard sign.

isn't the point of a Ring to give the impression that you are home? Wouldn't a lighted yard sign stating you have a Ring and probably aren't home kind of a welcome sign? Common sense would say that if someone saw that sign, they would just observe, and obviously NOT go to the front door, but rather a side/back door? "Protected By Ring" Ring is not a monitored service.

If you're considering one of these, cloud storage seems to be optional now (not free). In the past, the Android app. was said to have been flawed.

When you put it in the cat and add the PROMO, it states Seattle. Is this going to get rejected because it might be for Seattle residence only? Let me know if it worked for others around the country.

Totally agree and how is a $0.99 solar light worth $49? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

You don't just put the sign out when you're not home. If the sign is always there, would people assume you're never home? A certain percentage of thieves may see the sign, realize they may have already been captured on video by the Ring, and move on to the next house. A certain percentage might see the sign and just go around to the back or side, assuming/hoping there's only one Ring. Another percentage will walk right by the Ring, ignore the sign, kick in your front door, and take all your shit. Personally, I wouldn't advertise my Ring with a sign. I'd rather have them not notice it until it has a nice video of them. But to say it advertises when you're not home is just ridiculous.

Really? So then why put up security signs at all?
I would think using this sign PLUS a security monitoring sign would help deter would be thieves.

Anyway, I have this exact setup. I'm sending mine back. Unfortunately, the audio lag when using 2 way audio is too much for me. Plus, the fact that I have to PAY $3/month for cloud storage and NOT have the ability to have local storage sucks.

I'm going with the Nest Outdoor Camera. It has 2 way audio just like the Ring Pro. I can also record and save my videos locally, to the cloud and/or BOTH.
Saving to the cloud is optional. Additionally, the Nest Outdoor Camera is ALWAYS recording. The Ring Pro is motion activated and can miss a few seconds.

That's my input. I hope Ring continues to improve this item so the lag is not as bad and the audio is faster. I'll wait until the 3rd gen comes out.

There is no local storage feature with the nest camera. Where did you get the info that it was possible?

Thanks for this. I bought the original version of ring (not the pro) and it's a bigger device which did not work with my door jamb situation. This smaller version should work much better. I was just waiting to find a good price and this is it.

$30 a year if for cloud storage is a small price to pay to have a greater sense of security in the house.
