From what I heard the trick to turn the airline fee credit to Amazon gift card no longer works so does anyone know another way to convert to other useful gift cards or anything that I can actually use rather than as the airline credit?
Thanks in advance!
Update: Looks like United Airline gift registry also no longer works so any suggestions on what should I use the airline credit for?

The only thing you can do is get some airline gift cards or on UA set of gift registry and give yourself credit. It works, amex applies credit within 1 day.. the amazon thing was great until they stopped it...

Thanks for the response, if that's the only option then looks like I'll be getting one to use as discount for a ticket to be used later.

you need to "gift" yourself $$$ through UA gift registry... i did it and all my credits posted immediately... also, you have 6 years total to use the credit on a UA flight....

here is a link, read up on it in the sticky on registry....

Which airline would you prefer to buy a gift card too?

Technically you are not supposed to buy these gift cards but it does work on some airlines. For instance, I did it last year with my platinum amex on Alaska airlines. Will also be doing it in 2017...

I'd prefer Southwest but I also have a bunch of credits from Alaska when I traveled a lot couple years ago for work. Already got the credits for UA with misel00's help above so I'll give it a try. Smilie

Buying a Southwest digital GC directly from Southwest worked for me in January 2016... Not sure about this year; hopefully someone can be the guinea pig.

Glad I could help!!!! You can do it again now ( Or wait) as the Amex credits re-set on Jan 1st... Who knows if eventually amex will block this as well, the MPX amazon gift card option was AWSOME! Too bad they killed that LMAO

Yeah I think I'll wait till the credit posted then do it again. I should have done the MPX Amazon when it was available but oh well, something is better than nothing I guess. Just trying find a reason to justify that $195 annual fee lol.

Yeah, it's a high fee. this is what they always offer me, call to close card , then say that you have a chase card that has no fee., etc, etc, etc.. then they always offer either $100 or $150 in points to keep the card. they have done this twice now, however, I do agree the $195 fee is high unless you take advantage off all the perks offered with the card then it can be justified....

Do you have to chose your airline with the PRG card before you buy the gift cards like w/ the Amex Platinum card?

I tried that but they didn't budge lol. I heard some people got lucky and got their annual fee waived a couple times but the last time I spoke to them they said they couldn't do it. Will need to give it another try I guess Big Grin

Yes, you can just login to your account and add the airline before making the purchase.
