Thread Details

Hi, I have a regular ps4 right now and plan to upgrade. I have a BenQ rl2455 24" monitor that I game on now. I am looking for a 27' monitor this time around. Any advice which 27" monitor will give me the best picture quality for the ps4 pro? Thanks

Why 27"? Why not get a big TV?

competitive fps games, and PS4 do not go together.. If you want FPS competition go to PC, if you want FPS competition on a console go with XBOX 1 S..

Thank you for your opinion on a question I never asked. The original question remains the best possible 27" monitor for ps4 with hdcp 2.2.

Just look for a low latency monitor. Things like gsync aren't supported I don't beleive.

I'm running a 55" 4K Samsung curved - it has a little lag but at my age I add more lag than the tv.

Thanks, I cannot use a TV where I game. I sit 2ft from the screen. 27-28 is really the max I can go. The problem I am finding is a lot of monitors in 4k are not hdcp 2.2.

You appear to be looking for a very niche monitor here. Most monitors are going to be plugged into a PC that doesn't care about HDCP. If the monitor is capable of 4K at 60 hz than that is a good indication of HDMI 2.0 compliance, but not necessarily HDCP anything depending on how cheap the manufacturer is.

Depending on your PS4 needs (I assume you are talking a pro here since the OG PS4 doesn't perform well enough to cause this issue) you can go into the settings and force the HDCP off or to use version 1.4.

This wrecks your video apps like Hulu and Netflix but it allows you to use HDMI splitters for recording as well as older model TVs that don't have the dedicated 4K 60Hz ports.

The Amazon Monitor linked above appears to support what you need according to the comments although it is not called out in the specs.

Thanks! It appears there is a 27ud68 version that is the same, costs 200 less and from what I see, the only difference is no USB c ports.

Looks like the 27ud68 was 349 a month ago but is now 499 everywhere. Hoping a sale hits soon

For those who may read this. I got the ps4 pro and the LG 27ud68 today. Monitor is hdcp 2.2. I don't notice any massive improvements over the regular ps4. Slight visual improvements in the background during games, maybe slight color, but that's it for now.

One thing I miss on this monitor which is going to get annoying is the auto switch hdmi not being on the LG, which was present on BenQ. I may even return this monitor for that reason alone. Other than that, it's a very nice monitor. Picture quality is good, but to me it isn't worth the price tag for the console.

Not all games on the ps4 will get significant updates for the pro. There is a list out there somewhere, but it is mostly just upscaling.

Sorry for the disappointment, there may better things in the future for the console.

If you don't mind my asking, what competitive games do you play on PS4?

Ah,
ok.
Well it is really sad that the PS4 and the PRO do not support Freesync which I see the OP's display supports. Would be trivial for them to implement I suspect. That alone would make a world of difference.
