This is nothing new. T-mo introduced this nearly a year ago.

When I just checked out, it said the cost was $0 due to the 7-day free trial, with the T-Mobile logo at the top of every page, but then said I'd be charged $19.99/month after the free trial. It did even have a line item for the T-Mobile discount, but I assume that math is based on the base price, which was $0 since it's the 7-day trial. I signed up anyway, we'll see how it goes. Will be ditching Vue and most certainly not renewing DirectTV Now after I get the $105 Apple TV...

Directv is very bad at the moment. Sling is much better quality wise. you can also try Playstation Vue.

I agree with this. We tried Sling for three months (got a free Roku 2), and it was "ok." Since it was our first cord cutting experience, we then tried Playstation Vue and have been on that for a few months. I'd say Vue is better than Sling, but still not perfect (still buffering issues, and random pixelation issues). We just tried DirecTV NOW a few days ago (subscription is active right away, before aTV arrives) and it's downright bad. The quality, when it works, is superb. However, it's just unreliable. The Fire TV app sucks, and AirPlay to a 3rd Gen aTV is just mediocre, at best. Waiting for the 4th Gen aTV to try that out before I say "never" on DTVN. I don't have high hopes though.

For reference, we have a 100/35 internet connection.

I've tried all three of these streaming platforms and my current favorite is DIRECTV Now. Had Sling TV for about a year and the app was horrible. They have made improvements to it and it was slightly better before I left but there was lots of crashing, buffering etc. PS Vue was great until they lost a lot of the channels that were needed. Quality was great, but price was just a bit too steep for me for the channels I wanted. DIRECTV on the other hand has had a few quirks but my experience has been so much better given that I was locked in the $35--100 channel plan. The reason this may be, though, is because I've been using on the Apple TV 4th Gen (Both Sling and DIRECTV worked best on here). To reach my point I believe that, YMMV. Some of these services were made for specific platforms in mind and the service you choose should be dependent on which of these platforms are available within your household. That is PlayStation- PS Vue; Fire TV; Sling TV; Apple TV (4th Gen)- DIRECTV. Those are my 2 cents. Hope it helps someone trying to decide. Smilie

I like sling. Have done two 30 day prepays for 2 free roku sticks and am about to get the T-Mobile deal for a year. Also, used Amex deals for both prepay months. I cut the cord almost two years ago and just miss having the option to flip. I do alternate btwn Hulu and Netflix and still pay far less than cable. I tried DIRECTVnow but I can't cast to chromecast or roku. Until they can cast to something besides appletv, I'm out.
