Why is this stuff cheaper than whey?

What's the price per serving?

because the main ingredient is sugar--it is a high caloric shake intended for a different purpose vs. a typical whey protein supplement

But there's 50g protein per serving. In other words, I could have a scoop of this stuff instead of a meal+a scoop of whey protein... and I'd still be paying less for mass gainer? Doesn't make sense to me, I'm still missing something.

A serving of serious mass has 50grams of protein and 250 grams of carbs with a serving size of 334 grams. This is 10x the serving size of ON gold standard whey, with only 2x the protein in a serving. You pay less because maltodextrin (the carbohydrate) is much cheaper than whey protein. The 12lb bag has only "16 servings" (I got 40 out of a bag) for 35 bucks and it's typically 50 bucks for 60 or so servings of whey protein. It's a different thing altogether, but I like serious mass because i don't have room for a meal in my stomach sometimes but I can drink half a serving of this for a lot of calories. Take it as you will, that's just my experience with it.

I'm not sure what you mean by this part..."The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

Buy whey and mix with instant oats if you want a "mass gainer".

I think the problem with that is that oat is very filling. With this, if you did not have enough calories by the end of the day (even after a meal), then you can take this and easily add 600+ calories to your diet for the day without feeling like you just had a meal
