These are for newer AVR's and sources that support the Atmos decoding, and are best if you have a "friendly" ceiling to bounce the sound off of.

This is not the same thing as the older "height" speaker arrangement offered by some manufacturers, and you wouldn't want to use these in an older height arrangement.

Outside of all that, this is a good deal and finally a more appropriate price for what these inherently are. Prices for these early add-on modules have been ridiculous... given Pioneer can sell the full size bookshelf speakers for under $100 a pair, these being ~$150 was silly. At $70, I'm going to give them a shot.

How would you connect or wire this to the receiver? Or would you wire it to the front speakers? I dont understand how it connects to the home theater setup and the receiver will know its enabled?

Depends on the receiver you use setup varies.

you need an Atmos capable receiver, I'm guessing you wire the speakers to that

I've read these don't really work too well and in ceiling are a million times better

I Googled it, and receivers with the Atmos processing built in are usually 7.2 setups. These fire upward, and will wire to the channels on the receiver specifically created for that sort of thing.

In ceiling works better, but this one works just fine with you have a closed ceiling.

yeah Amazon reviews are very positive. sams club has these for $90... I'm going to need a new receiver soon, but I don't think I have any room for these speakers as odd as that may sound
