One of the problems comparing d2 to d3 is that there wasn't so many options back then. You had d2, and later a couple of d2 clones. Now there's several options, and lots of other/ maybe better ways to waste time. If someone would take the best aspects of each of the games (Guild Wars, D3, D2, Torchlight, Lineage, etc), you'd probably have a great game still with a lot detractors because of their preferences for what's best.

For $20, it's hard to find a game with this much content, and replayability. Throw out the FPS games, where you could endlessly play against other people, and there's not many games that you can easily get hundreds of hours out of.

This game is still a simple clicker, but to push the higher levels, there are sets of gear that need to be put together properly, and a certain amount of skill level, and luck to get really high (Push Greater Rifts). Set armors is limiting at times, but there are 2+ sets for each character class that is viable each season. That's 10+ different or semi-different play styles. That doesn't increase content, but it does add to the experience. Most people concentrate on 1 or 2 character classes. Some people change main toons each season. Some don't play seasons. It's almost night and day from the 1st year now. Most changes have been very good. Some are questionable.

Some changes since the 1st year:
No Auction house/pay to win.
No trading outside of the 4 people in the party at the time of the drop.
Gold has very little/zero value when you can easily farm up billions (leveling legendary gems is the only real goldsink).
Set armors/Weapons combo bonus's that are basically required for higher levels.
Legendary gems that can be leveled up, and are basically required to push grifts.
T-levels to TXIII (simple power creep that's limited by your gear, ability, and paragon levels).
Paragon levels (give bonus's to all stats as you level).
Rifts (Random dungeons that you clear for loot/drops with a boss at the end up to T13).
Greater rifts (Timed random dungeons without drops until you kill the uber boss at the end. No limit to level/difficulty).
Extra panels/inventory for finishing seasonal achievements.
Pets that follow you around, pick up gold.
Cosmetic upgrades.

Upcoming:
Some changes to various classes, and their gear.
Season 9 starts on January 6th.
DX11 graphic support is coming then.
NEW EXPANSION featuring the NECROMANCER is coming later. If it's like their usual diablo expansions, it won't have a lot of content, but we'll see.

Some features that keep people playing after completing all the basic content is:
Seasons (6 month long competition to push higher grifts, and complete achievements)
Try/test different Classes
Try/test different Armor/weapon sets that they purposely nerf or empower each season
Hardcore Mode (You can die, and lose everything on that toon)
Extra Panel/Inventory space
Can be a mindless way to kill time lol.

100% worth the twenty dollars. But I would highly recommend playing with at least a few friends. It can still be fun solo though

I used to *love* playing Diablo II on PC when I was younger. Is it just as fun on the PS4?

oh yeah, on first release the game wasn't well liked but they're honing the formula and it's just getting more and more fun.

Played D3 on PC. Wondering how well this translates to PS4? Worth the double dip to own it twice?
