A roku/fire tv provides this. And antenna provides the local channels, so what is Airtv providing? And smart tvs provide all these services/features already as well. So maybe I am missing something, but what is this thing providing?

No, neither Roku nor FireTV provide antenna OTA access.

Seems like a good deal, but there is no way I'm buying this without a full review. Heck, even their own site shows a Balsamiq style mockup as the software interface!

While the built-in seamless switching and handling of OTA free cable and streaming channels seems cool, there is no mention of how the seamless switching will work with services not named sling (i.e. playstation vue ... my prediction: it wont!).

It is supposedly android TV so playstation vue should work, chromecasting should work, etc. but no one knows until its reviewed.

Is there an app for getting Amazon Prime programming?
Is there a true universal search that doesn't favor a specific programming service?

If there is already a review out there someone share it here, thanks!

Could not agree more. Desperately needs a dvr. How can anyone watch OTA TV without a dvr. Barbaric. They have really gone up on the number of commercials these days. Maybe slingtv's network dvr will eventually work for OTA.

I'm holding off for reviews and don't need another "platform". I like my Nexus Player but Android TV isn't keeping up with FTV in my opinion. Heck even TVs are coming with Fire TV backed in as the OS now.

Not sure how they can compete with At&T DVR on the way on Directv Now app. Much to learn but doubt I'd get one at this point.

I have Roku's with Sling installed on them. Its really not that hard to switch the input and watch my OTA TV. Now, if they could somehow include local channels to the streaming app, that would be nice.

I came across a guide a little while ago for turning Nexus Player into DVR:

https://androidtv.news/2016/11/ha...-channels/

It looks like the stock AndroidTV software can act as a DVR as-is, but it would look like a mess to have an OTG cable + USB Hub + USB Tuner + External Drive all attached. If the AirTV is just AndroidTV with a much larger drive and a USB port, it could be workable.

+1 for Amazon support, as others have mentioned.

Already a two week timeframe for shipping? I really hope resellers arent buying this to put kodi and doubling the price. Also does anyone know if the $50 credit applies to current sling subscribers?

Technicolor announced at CES 2017 in Las Vegas that it was chosen by Air TV to build the AirTV Player, an Android TV streaming device.

Is there a compatibility list of USB tuners? I just tried a ATI 600 and it did not seem to work, In fact. I dont see the app on my home screen, but it is in the list of installed apps, so I assume when I plug in a compatible tuner it will activate?
