Went into my local Sams last week and noticed they had been reduced/clearanced. All of my local stores have them for this price, but most locations are sold out. Picked up one for my wifes Infiniti SUV.

Can anyone cofirm this around DFW with a Sam's Membership? I'll buy a membership for a $100 yellow top.

Avoid modern Optima batteries. Awful quality, horrible reviews.

What do you suggest? Last I had heard several years ago they were still one of the better consistent brands.

Unbelievable. I *just* got new car battery today after checking SD last night for any deals. Even went to the Sam's website to see if my membership would give me any price breaks. All I saw was the Duracell brand.

Anyway, I also read the last Consumer Report on car batteries. It revealed that you shouldn't be brand loyal or fall for the CCA hype. It revealed that you should concentrate on the GRADE of battery needed and the LONGEVITY of that battery. For my grade, I was surprised to see the moderately priced Everstart Maxx from Walmart with the best reviews. I believe that I only saw Optima as a warm recommendation for one grade. Good luck.

I've had red tops and yellow tops for the past 10+ years or so and they've all been rock solid. None have failed early. Needed a battery to replace the current one that came with my vehicle which was leaking acid.OMG I've had the Everstart battery from walmart and replaced it twice within 1 year. They were junk.

Well I definitely appreciate the post. Bought 1 of 2 left at the local sam's club. Only the size I needed (group 35) were discounted down to $99, there was another few yellow tops that were like $115.

Best part was I signed up for a 1 day pass and they didn't even charge me the 10% service fee.

I've needed to replace the battery since the summer (5 year old OEM subaru battery).

Which sams club was this at in Richmond, TX? Also, how much was the price on the marine blue tops? Need one for my boat

I have a yellow top in my truck. I have left my interior lights on multiple times now which completely drained the battery. Someone gave me a jump and my alternator recharged my battery for me. Battery is still going strong for 5+ years now!

what kind of deal are you looking for? This price is 48% off original price. Seems like a good deal to me.

Agree with the comments to avoid Optima batteries.

Optima got bought out by JCI/Johnson Controls many years ago, who moved production to Mexico and used cheaper materials along with raising prices. Optima batteries had issues even when they were USA-made, now they are terrible.

If you want an AGM battery, EnerSys makes some of the best under their Odyssey brand, or Northstar makes their X2 power battery which is pretty close.

Other than that, you can always get an AGM battery from your local auto parts store. Autozone has Duralast AGM batteries, Advance Auto Parts has Autocraft AGM batteries, you can probably get a house brand AGM battery these days at most places. As long as you get a 3-4 year warranty you should be good.
