Sign-up experience:
I did online sign-up and did local Edison NJ pickup (signed up 1/8, went to store 1/9):
.received $25 gc code via email within 3 hrs
.cookies, pizza, nor papertowels were NOT automatically discounted/credited (I had to show a printout to cashier, who had to get a manager to provided an override at register).

For people with a business license (and ID number) mention the fact you own a business when signing up for the above deal and you may be offered a plus membership and other items at no extra cost. see this thread for more details: https://slickdeals.net/f/9654284-ymmv-sam-s-club-membership-for-business-owners-45-25gc-free-upgrade-to-plus-free-stuff

Hopefully this deal comes back around in time for us to get another membership with of course getting membership in other family members name.
That was a sweet deal. They even offered 20 or 25 extra gift card for becoming Executive member.

At end of membership I get 55.00 back if I didn't accumulate at least 55.00 in cash back with executive
I haven't looked into the Executive Membership policy before but their website doesn't seem to list the $55 cash back if you don't accumulate cash back throughout the year. Are you talking about the Satisfaction Guarantee 100% or something else?

When I was in Costco getting my last membership, they asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the Executive membership and get a costco additional 20 or 25.00 gift card (I forgot which it was). I told them I wasn't interested and just wanted the standard membership. I told them I don't go enough for the Executive membership to be of benefit to me.

They said if at the end of my memberhip, if I hadn't accumulated at least 55.00 in Executive Member cash back by using the card, Costco would give me 55.00 so I had nothing to lose by upgrading so I did. They said either way, I will get at least 55.00 back at end of my membership.

Rule #1 of business you don't turn away money
I'm glad Costco charges yearly dues. Keeps the dregs out of Costco and makes them go to WalMart instead.

Thanks for the info. I'll bring it up when I go to renew next month.

noob question. My wife had a membership and I was an add-on member. It expired in November. Will I be considered new member ?
My wife and I usually alternate each year so that we can get the new member specials. They let you add another household member for free.

I had 30$ in reward check for my exec membership and they only gave me 20$ when downgrading. Initially I thought they said I can get the entire 55$ back.

Definitely do. I'm glad I ended up upgrading as I needed to buy Michelin tires and was able to waive the 60.00 install fee by being an Executive member.

Solid deal for new Sams club membership. I tried out Sams club last year after being a lifelong Costco customer. Wife and I had terrible customer service experiences in southern California Costco locations and decided to switch to Sams.

I'd say in general the two stores are pretty much identical, but my gut feeling tells me Sams products are slightly lower quality and higher prices. Don't quote me on that and I didn't do any kind of empirical testing, but that's what my gut check told me after shopping between the two different places for a while.

Can you cancel right after and keep the pizza and cookies and GC?
Why would you cancel? The $45 includes a year of membership. You wouldn't be saving anything.

I've noticed in SoCal sams prices are about the same sometime a penny less than Costco. The sizes at sams are sometimes smaller than Costco for example two simply orange juice pack vs three at Costco. I prefer Costco though as sams is a bit of a drive and as you say quality of products are better at Costco.

I got membership basically free through Amex offer and $20 gift card last year. Not with it for me to renew.

Must not be able to get members. Truthfully it's the dumbest idea to only open the doors to subscribers.

Do they auto-renew you? So sick of subscriptions.
I don't know what is the idea of membership here, they still make profit on the items they sell. Its not like its a huge saving over Walmart's prices.

I refuse to join sams again. I had to report the linden, nj location to corporate. These dipshits actually called the cops on me when my car wouldn't start at the gas station because I wouldn't let them move it ( i had already called a tow truck). The best part was when the cops were annoying me, someone drove off with the gas hose still in their tank lmfao
