I've had 3 of these since 2010 and they're still going strong. I have them placed strategically in hallways to provide illumination to navigate without turning on other lights. They work great with eneloops and similar low discharge rechargable batteries.

I am thinking of using these as portable study lights. What else do people use them for?

These provide illumination akin to nightlights; definitely not for reading or tasks! They also only turn on for about 30 seconds after they detect motion, then turn back off.

no walking into walls and shit when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night is my main use. my secondary use is on the stairs where i frequently go to bed later than everyone else and i don't have to worry about tripping on my dog who likes to sleep on the stairs. i realize my use may be rather....specialized..

Work GREAT inside kitchen cabinets, you know, way in the back where you can't tell which size sauce-pan lid you're looking at....

If I have these on the hallway, would this keep #$%@ing mouse trying to sneak into my room?

or would they learn pretty quickly that nothing will happen to them?
