Would covering in aluminum foil solve the problem? Thinking of buying this...
Works great.
The only problem is that it becomes my daily cooker/heat warmer- so in two years the main tray and drip catcher become so oil burned, you need new ones- only new ones cost as much as a whole new toaster.
Much like printers & ink, land fills get filled with otherwise functioning appliances.

take a look at the handle. It's attached to the front the using plastic which will definitely fail down the road due to heat. That's what happened to my current toaster. They should have known this.

Oil Burned? What the heck is that? If you clean it regularly i would think that any drip pan would outlast the heating element by an order of magnitude. I take mine out of my toaster oven at home (different model) and clean it every now and then (when the kids or wife complain about it smoking...)

Are you saying this can't be removed for cleaning? That would be a big disappointment especially since i want to buy one for work... and there are a lot of slobs who think their mother work here.

This item has a oil drip and crumb tray. Both of them can be removed and cleaned. It says hand wash only.

I think i got this for $35 at BB before. No problems but the beep is loud but it can be turned off.

You can foil the bottom tray. It is removable so you can wrap it around with foil.
Just don't touch the heating elements with the tray while it's on.

Yeah, that beep will scare you to death if you don't know it is coming. Our family finally got used to it.
