Swapping out a micro SD card on LG Android phone, retain app data?

avocet 883 121 January 12, 2017 at 12:19 PM
I'm planning to swap out the current 64GB micro SD card on my LG G3 phone to a 128GB to have more room for photo storage.
When I previously installed various apps on the phone I had the option to transfer apps to the external memory card.
When I mount the new memory card will all that app data be lost requiring me to reinstall those apps all over again?
I'm going to use a PC to transfer the photos from one card to the other.

if your not on marshmallow 6.0 it should not matter. if you are you more likely can just get away with powering the phone down, moving all contents of the 64 Microsd to the 128 microsd (maintain the exact folder structure), and placing the 128 in the phone and powering it on.

if you have an issue with that inserting the 64 should put things back as they were so you can look into a backup and restore program.

Yes, You could try imaging the card to a new card sector by sector then extending the partition but the easiest way will be just install the apps again.
