They use different sensors. The A119 uses a 1440P sensor but tops out at 30fps. The A119S uses a 1080P Sony sensor that can do 60fps.

In practice, daytime image quality is pretty similar. The A119S sensor has the edge at night because its pixels are bigger (they can collect more light).

Last year while in stopped traffic on I-95 an 18-wheeler rolled back on a hill and struck my two year old perfect condition car.

The truck driver got out, apologized profusely and said it was "all his fault."

Called my insurance company that night and they took down everything.
But next day my insurance company called back to say the truck driver claimed I struck his truck !!

If I did not have a dash cam, I would have been out
a) $500 collision deductible
b) $500 to $1000 in increased insurance costs carried next three to five years.

When the safety director for the trucking company called me to "offer" to "let me" settle the damage to their truck, you could have heard a pin drop when I told him I had a video showing me not moving an inch as the truck rolls aback and hits me, and I considered their claims against me not only a lie -- but an attempt to defraud me.

I had a check from them for $2,800 five days later

is it possible to use this to catch people who key your car? It is only facing forward, possible to catch the sides if I mount it somewhere else?

My car gets keyed often and I need something to catch them

Bought the A118C2. Decided to give it a try. If I like it I will figure out how to hardwire it.

Even if you face it sideways, you need to power it non-stop even when your car is parked. You'll need either a battery pack or a device which prevents car main battery from being discharged too much when being used by a device such as this camera. Also, I'm not sure these camera have a parking mode.

Also, if you live in a rough neighborhood, you want to hide the camera as much as possible. You don't want someone smashing your window to grab the camera.

I wonder if one of those COD cameras that pops up every now and then on SD would work for you?

A119S has a different sensor that has better clarity and low light level visibility, but has a lower resolution and 120 degree viewing angle.

What's everyone's thoughts on the ones with GPS. Do you think it's worth it to pay the extra for the GPS?
