So I have to share my Singapore Airlines story... I was flying back from FRA to JFK in business class. To get to the airport I take a train as I normally do. This time for some reason the train was badly delayed and decided to stop at the main station in Frankfurt instead of the Airport where it was supposed to go per the schedule.

Long story short... I arrived at the check in desk in Frankfurt 28 minutes before take off. The check in desk called the gate and they agreed to hold the plane. Guy RAN with me through the airport and all the checkpoints so I would make my flight. Even my luggage made it. That was the only flight of the day, so if I had missed it I would have missed my daughter's Christmas pageant.

I LOVE Singapore Airlines. Amazing service.
Caveat: Manchester Airport.. one of the worst to Transit thru. Inept and rude. They treat you like criminals. 1.5 hr transit and it took them 2 hrs to screen 120 passengers and we had to run 100mt dash to get to the plane once cleared.

Non existent duty free. green label costs more than blue label (purchased at duty free in singapore).

Also you cant buy duty free in singapore and transit thru Manchester and they will apply the 100ml rule and confiscate your sh!t.

Other than that. Great experience. Wish Singapore airlines would consider transitting thru any other country than England. (Cuz Hethrow is the same).
We bought tickets last month from Houston to Manchester for $699 non-stop. Non-stop flights from DFW to London were 1299 at the same time in June.

I've heard good things about Singapore and look forward to the trip.

Ah.... no.... it isn't. It's actually kind of expensive, at least ex LAX. A few times a year, ex LAX, it'll be in the low to high $400 range. Obviously, the low would be during the winter. I think it was $429 for the last sale to Tokyo. It's actually pretty much $500 all the time to China and HK. As for SE Asia, have people already forgotten about the $424 price from last week? The only part of this deal to consider is the Singapore Airlines aspect. That $429 price I mentioned to Tokyo was on ANA. Which is a fine airline as well.

Not to mention the stewardesses are such eye candy. Food is great too. I love SQ and would not mind paying the premium.

So you pissed off an entire plane of people by making them wait? Wink

Many airlines do the same. It's not a Singapore thing. I've had a lot of airlines do the same for me. The last time was Lufthansa. I wasn't even business class, just economy. My flight was late for a connection. Before we landed, they called my name over the PA system and asked me to come up front. They sat me there in an empty first class seat for the landing. Then right as the door opened a Lufthansa rep met me and hustled me through the system. Line for immigration/customs? Nope, not for me. We didn't even go through the main system. She led me into a side door and there was a immigration/customs processing desk in there with no line. That only took a few seconds and we were out another door into another terminal. She then trotted me over to the departure gate and I was off.
