"The chat rep even reminded me, that if I want to keep the $49.99 monthly price, I have to sign up for AutoPay - may be this should be in the first post!"

This is a bad deal. Even after getting $100 GC in San Jose, CA you will be paying $90 per month to get 250 mbps.

I'm currently paying for that plan is $39.99 for that speed so I will pass.

I'd try their retention department (call the main Comcast line and say 'cancel service'). Tell them you're thinking of switching providers and ask if they can give you a better price than what you're paying. I've been able to get a better rate for the past 4-5 years. I've heard this only works if you live in a market where Comcast doesn't own a monopoly on broadband.

can't believe a company like Amazon with good customer service reputation would partner with Comcrap.

Is there any way to avoid the hard pull when signing up through Amazon? When signing up through Comcast you can put down a deposit but I didn't see that option for Amazon.com's signup

Seeing $29.99/month 10 Mbps for 12 months with $100 amazon card as of now. Is the price changed?

I just did (again). But you have to have a competitor to leverage off of and be willing to actually follow through and cancel if Comcast won't deal. I have AT&T in my area and will leave Comcast if they try to play hardball with me.

I got the X1 Starter Double Play, which includes the Digital Starter TV package, Performance Pro internet (100Mbs), DVR+HD and 3 months free HBO for $89.99/month with a 12 month lock-in.

I am bummed that Comcast is now giving a reward card because while AT&T has been doing this for years, Comcast claimed that they never gave reward cards. I would have fought for one of these.

I suggest you record all voice calls with Comcast. It is important to have a record of what they promise.

If the retention department can't give you a better deal, you can cancel and open an account with someone else's name who lives in the same household. My wife and I did this a couple of times already when they refused to offer a better deal. There will be a lapse in service but it's not too bad.

Sucks too, I just signed up not even a week ago. Wonder if Amazon would honor it if I chat with them...

Everyone always grips about Comcast, I've never had any issue I was able to resolve with a quick call. Also, when you order through Amazon you get a special number for Comcast Amazon representatives that work a little harder to actually help you.
