Has anyone tried the Rocksmith, does it work well? Any basic/beginner guitar can work with it? My girlfriend wants me to buy the Guitar Hero. Part of me thinks its dumb to buy that and not get the Rocksmith thing and a real guitar and actually learn something useful...

The guitars are all the same on the consoles. It is the little USB transceivers that are platform specific, and they are not compatible PS4 <> PS3.

The guitar from Guitar Hero live works with the older games, but with the new two row layout, it isn't fun to use on the old one row games.

I assume one usb thing handles multiple instruments so if in already have one fire Xbox One I could use one of these guitars.

Learning to play guitar from a video game is not really learning. Get guitar hero for that girl.

*Edit: Nevermind that statement. Learning on Rocksmith is apparently legit.

Unfortunately, no. Each USB thing is paired to one guitar. Some folks have gotten Activision to send a replacement USB adapter to replace a "lost" one.
